While I attended Dalhousie University, I took several classes at King's. The facilities are all excellent. The New Academic Building is well-designed and easy to navigate along with the adjoining buildings. The campus itself is small, but very well laid out. The Georgian-style architecture of much of the campus adds to a very classical feeling university. The courses I took were interesting and somewhat unique. While I can't vouch for the FYP or their well-known journalism program, my impressions of the school are very positive.

Don't go here. Don't send your kids here. I attended in 2010, my main tutor was Martin Saastri. He was an alcoholic who got fired the next year. He was totally unqualified to be teaching a first year University course, let alone given the role of a "main tutor". He couldnt lead the class, had a negative attitude and on top gave out terrible grades and gave no useful feedback. The low marks he gave me and others (which count heavily for the equivalent of FIVE courses) screwed up my transcript, ability to apply to graduate school and motivation. The school never informed us of this or made any attempt to. Save yourself the money - buy the books on the reading list, go down to the Salvation Army after you read each chapter and ask the people there what they think of the material. Wish I had, would have been an overall better experience. Also this school is a rich-kid-hipster magnet.

I had some questions about a specific program at the school so I contacted admissions. This review concerns only the woman I spoke with. If her behavior is representative of the support students receive from the staff at this institution, then I'm not interested in attending. She was very rude. She talked over my questions, and when I asked her to please stop, she then tried to accuse me of being rude! For the rest of the conversation she was extremely condescending in a gratingly fake, but overly chipper tone. One problem arose when I could not find the page she was attempting to direct me to. I found the site through an internet search, but apparently there are two websites that do no connect. and I did not know this. You would think she would considering she works there in admissions, but I guess not! Anyhow, I was on the overview only website and she was on the full website. I asked her if there was a list of disciplines and courses somewhere because the information was plainly not on the website. I even gave her the address to said site, but she talked right over that part, paying no attention to what I said and insisted I look under King + Dal. I did so and even read the headings, during which she (again) talked over. She seemed to think I was so obtuse that I cannot read and pointed out over and over again where to look. When she finally realized that I was on the wrong site she didn't apologize, instead she continued extreme condescension by asking (oh so politely) if I "saw now" where to look. I reminded her I gave her the address of the site I was on, but she did not pay attention to this. She relented a little and said she would have tech look into this over the summer. It seemed to give her great pleasure to tell me that I did not meet the requirements for the program. The wording on the brochure I picked up was a little vague in indicating the requirements for the program I was interested in which was why I called to begin with. I could actually go on longer about how she laughingly informed me that in order to enter into the program as the brochure stated it would take me an EXTRA ten years to qualify. It was absolutely ridiculous and a pathetic attempt at superiority. That is all.

King's is a really tight community filled with passionate students and professors. It felt like a little cult when I first came to King's, but it eventually became a second home to me.
