It's summer, and my first year at this school has just ended. I must say that many of the teachers are awesome, but some, particularly the PE teachers, are rude. I was in Learning Strategies, and it was quite helpful for me as someone who struggles with school. However, when I get in trouble, they treat me like an adult, which can be overwhelming. The principal is really sweet, but the vice principal is not as kind, he tends to use my past mistakes against me in an aggressive way to make me feel bad. Which doesn't work, try harder next time matennNow, I'm going to talk about the students. Many are mean and hostile. The kids I had classes with often made homophobic or sexist jokes, which I reported, but not much changed. The Whitecaps guys are disrespectful to younger students, and despite reporting it, not much changed there either. The punishments are really unfair. They're either too light or too harsh.nnOn a positive note, the building is nice, and the scenery is beautiful. Overall, the school is average.
I was an ex student at this school I was there for eighth grade and it was truly a experience that scared me for life a bit of context I am a chilean, Russian, Japanese female with autism I am on the spectrum but it’s nearly impossible to tell when i started in summer it all started well I got along with some of teachers pretty well but the problem started closer to fall i was constantly harassed by this boy who was very touchy at first i didn’t mind it until he started touching me closer to my private parts i told him multiple times to stop and that i wasn’t comfortable but he didn’t stop so i went to the vice principal and told him everything, he said that maybe i wasn’t loud enough and maybe i just thought i told him but i actually didn’t…either way he said he was going to talk to this boy, he ended up not talking to him at all so this boy continued until i told him that if he didn’t stop I was going to beat him up…he finally stopped but I was the one that got into serious trouble.nNext…I am very ashamed at the fact that i have autism due to past experiences so i normally hide it but when i become close to someone and i feel like i can trust them i tell them..i specifically told a girl who i will call Emma, Emma and I became friends instantly we both liked the same thing and we were even in band and orchestra together…i learned to play violin at the age of 3 and i stopped around the age of 5, so i was not bad but not good so this student would help me and her he would teach her double bass and he would teach me violin, one day I can’t remember what I said but I got into a fight with this boy over violin and he yelled “do you have autism or something!?” And to which I was going to yell no before I could reply Emma said “yes she actually does” I was horrified as everyone in the room stayed silent and looked at me…I left home early that day.nThis next needs more context after than incident I was still friends with Emma because of fear of ending up alone so my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease when I was around 8 I had just arrived in Canada and he died December when I was 13 so it was very hard for me since I had a very close relationship with him before that I had one goal for my life and it was to find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease it might seem a little too ambitious but i didn’t care so i studied like crazy to get good grades I looked for volunteering opportunities any money I earned was for donations once he passed away my life had no meaning but I still went to school I told Emma about all of this hoping she would be there for me but she was the reason I had 13 attempts on my life in the span of one month.nShe would see me studying like crazy and she would say “stop studying so much you have autism so people don’t expect anything from you anyways” this always crushed me and whenever i would tell her she said i was just too sensitive..then when my dad finally passed away and i went back to school she started making jokes about how I don’t have a father and how I was fatherless and when my grades weren’t good she would say “see this is why you are fatherless” I reported this to the principal but nothing was done about it… in total in the whole school year I made 26 attempts on my life police never came and nobody ever carednAnd the cherry on top is…nLike I mentioned before I am Chilean Russian Japanese. I don’t look “Japanese” I look more Russian or Chilean so people don’t usually assume I’m Japanese … so when I would tell people I’m Japanese i would get called “rcta” aka race change to another in my opinion it was pretty funny the name until people would try to hit me and call me racistnThen I would also get called Mexican I don’t mind that but I would politely correct them and say that I was Chilean but to no use cause I would still be called MexicannOver all I met one single teacher that i liked and two girls and one boy who are nice but please don’t send your children here.
My thoughts of this this high school are not very positive. We purchased a condo by the university area, so my son had to go there. What we didn't know was that this school focuses so much on international students that the local students feel left out. The ESL students tend to stay within their groups. This was tough on our son .
I don’t feel this school is a safe and productive learning place for me. Earlier today my friend was trying to cook his instant ramen in a microwave, But he made a honest mistake and left the tinfoil in a started a miniature fire but was quickly put out by a 12th grade named Ali. Me and my friends were not laughing or goofing off about it but the girls around us started saying to each other to “ pull the fire alarm so we can leave” they received no punishment and later pulled it even when the fire was out. Now Sean’s mom is going into school tmrw to fight a suspension for a mistake, and my friends are being exiled from our grade 9 basketball team. They were all just witnesses and were trying to put it out and keep themselves safe. But do to there rep of being silly people they were accused of doing it was a joke and on purpose. Luckily I received no punishment but they are now all banned for the season and when they mad amazing points that were true/factual Mr Bach just says life’s unfair. How can I be at this school if they don’t supply a fair education for me and my peers also I don’t feel safe being apart of my team anymore.
Update #2: The locks on most of the boys' bathroom stalls are broken and occasionally there is an entire roll of toilet paper sitting on the groundnnUpdate: My papers AND my computer is soaked because someone's instant ramen exploded in the microwavennMy papers are wet because some guy microwaved their sausage and it freaking exploded
