I was a customer of United Bank years ago before theu merged with Vernon bank (not positive on the name) and it was hands down the best bank i ever worked with. Afterwards, i had technical issues with the switch and left because i couldn't wait for them to fix it. 5 or so years later i decide to give them another chance, a decision i regret. Ive had a few issues, one being a log in issue another with a deposit. The issues themselves are not the problem, it was the rude and condescending attitude of the staff at the Agawam office.
Recently i helped my grandmother buy a house. I got very specific document requests from the mortgage company. The staff refused to provide the documents because "mortgage companis don't want that, they want it this way, trust me i know this process a lot better than you." Turns out, despite the vast knowledge the teller had of the inner workings of the mortgage process, she was wrong. When we went back she argued with me that i was still wrong. It took my mortgage agent to call the bank himself and talk to the teller directly and teller her to give the statements the way i originally asked for. She then was rude giving us the papers. The tellers protests delayed our mortgage process significantly and forced my grandmother to postpone her move by an extra month.
I gave this bank a chance, but the staff at the Agawam office convinced me to quickly close out the account. On a side note, i dealt with them far less but the staff in Southington were much more polite and informative.

First question i asked when i called.. are you actually loaning SBA funds or just say you do. BC I don't want to play games. They don't want to lend money to local businesses and their commercial lending team provides horrible customer service. Never in my life has a bank been this unproductive and inefficient with a business loan. They literally waited until the day before my closing to pull my credit and tell me no on the deal - AND I GAVE UP A LOAN OFFER TO BRING THE ENTIRE PACKAGE TO THEM.. The deal was a startup but the prior income at the location was taken into account so they didn't like the deal even though i was giving them the same amount in collateral as the loan was for. Then she has the nerve to not even respond back to me. To top it off not wanting to START AGAIN ALL OVER SOMEWHERE ELSE, I gave them the chance to do the loans for the other locations (all documentation had been provided) and these were profitable purchases with stronger numbers and they NEVER CALLED ME BACK. I emailed them over and over and called LIKE A BEGGAR and not EVEN A PHONE CALL BACK. What a joke.

I needed a money order for the first time ever in my life and when I tried at CVS their computers were down . United was across the street so I went over to see if I could get one there without having to drive across town. I wasn't aware United didn't offer this service to non bank customers . When I explained this to the teller she was very rude and condescending. A simple I'm sorry we dont offer that to non customers whould have been efficant . the Disdain i recieved when I said I was sorry when I looked it up on the website I just saw the fee not the policy was a little over the top . I'm glad I have TD bank I would never use this bank based on the customer service or lack of customer service for an question asked
