Absolutely delicious Sushi! Great place for a gathering, definitely book your party's here! Cocktails are fresh and tasty. Menus are en Francais, so have someone translate to you. Only downside is parking so carpool!!Food: 5/5
Had dinner here early August 2022. They were short staffed. But we waited 40 minutes to order our drinks, and another 20 to order food. The food portions are tiny: you pay 14$ for a roll, but they only serve you half the roll, so 5 pieces. That works out to about 3 dollars per piece. It would be justified if the quality was there, but it was all very mediocre. I lived 3 years in Japan, I know good sushi. I never expect Japan quality sushi in Canada, but this was not good. Even the rice was underseasoned and overcooked. Nothing was quite right. The view was the best thing there. Avoid.
We stopped for the night at Carleton Sur Le Mer for Sat 20 Aug night and search for a place to eat open late. Umi Yama was open. The staff are extremely welcoming and the seating are outside was a nice plus. The food and drink selection is excellent and what we selected to eat was excellent too. Umi Yama was busy so I made a reservation.
Poke bowl rice stick together into a big ball. Saumon is supermarket quality instead of fresh saumon , and I’ve never seen a restaurant which serves customers with bowls that has many breaches.
Great atmosphere. Fun place to bring friends or family. Great seafood menu. However the menu does need more options for those who dont est seafood my friend is allergic to shellfish. The waiter was great! We ordered a pitcher of sangria, it definitely needed more fruit and it was very diluted, could barely taste the wine. It was my 3rd visit but not sure I'll be back.
This was much better sushi than we expected given that it's in a small town. Lower your expectations if you're from a big city. They also have lots of other options on the menu. Great atmosphere and lovely service. Entrance is down the driveway on the right.
I was there this Summer. - fresh fish, seafood - lively atmosphere - ocean view terrace - overcooked and too compacted rice - too large portion of rice against size of fish/seafood - no real soy sauce only the one made from powder - wasabi with no real kick - rushed service If you know what the real sushi is in Japan and if you are expecting something similar, this place won’t please you. But if you would like to experience something different or you are craving for Asian food in this region it worths at least a try. Of course I knew that I could not expect a real sushi in this part of Quebec but my expectation was a bit higher hence the 3 star. If I could, I would give 2.5. When you make a reservation over the phone, make sure to get the person’s name on the other end of the line - we reserved a table over the phone the night before but the restaurent couldn’t find the record when we arrived and it took sometime to find a table for us and perhaps that was the reason for the rushed service. It sounded if we knew who took our reservation, it would have expedited the process. We were standing in the middle of the restaurant for good 10min. Overall it was okay. I would order other Asian dishes but not sushi if I ever go back to this place.
Good service, but very special interpretation of asian food. Tomato flavor was very dominant in the Pad Thai. Maki and fresh roll more on the heavy side, missing the fresh and light character. Nice location near the beach, maybe a good place to enjoy some cocktails...
Nice cosy place with a cool vibe. Amazing location. Great service. Food was good.
Great ambiance, good sushi but the tempura was in fish and chip batter and the pad Thai was very sweet and tomato-y which I didn't like. Over I enjoyed the whole vibe though.
