Ultramar/ Depanneur Sabah

After having overheated in construction traffic a block and a half away, I walked to this gas station to buy two gallons of replacement coolant to replace what had flash boiled off, expecting to find a selection of the two standard types identified by the coolant colour in normal one gallon 3.7L jugs. Not only did they only stock shockingly unstandard individual one litre bottles in all my years as a car guy, I've never seen it sold this way, and only one type, but they were charging the INSANE price that was more then 200% the normal value. What should have been only ~$20 a gallon at most, was well over $40! Way to absolutely rip people off and take advantage of your clientele, especially those that don't know any better or are in a bind! Also by the way, since when has it become difficult to find a couple automotive consumables at a gas station, before I even discovered the ridiculous price of what little coolant options they had, I was honestly appalled that the automotive related product took up a total of only three small 4ft wide shelves at the end of one of the isles with the entire rest of the store being food. It is appalling that that is what is considered a gas station to Ultramar. Honestly this car guy will be specifically avoiding ever buying any fuel or anything else for that matter from Ultramar again. By the way, if this ever happens to you, just limp to your home on the $2.40 one gallon containers of water instead, and don't bother trying to buy the right coolant. Just be sure to have the system properly flushed with proper mixed coolant before the temperature drops below freezing.
