We were here regularly before the pandemic and ordered takeout a couple times during the PHE. Always fresh. Always delicious. Ecstatic to see they're back open. My son and I had a night out tonight and he decided he wanted sushi. We had seaweed salad and tempura vegetables. He had a California roll with masago. I had the Spartan and MSU rolls. Everything was terrific. Great service. We can't wait to come back for hibachi. It's been... three years.
We went here thinking that we would have a nice dinner and a show from the chef, but he actually didn’t do any performance like the other chefs at the other tables. We ordered the fillet and shrimp, and the lobster; it looked delicious but he made it way too salty. We gave it 3 stars because our server was just very prompt and courteous, or else we would have given 2 stars.
First visit tonight with a group of friends. Seated a tad after our reservation time of 730pm. We waited well over a hr just to get waited on. Are food was just being cooked at 850pm. The waitress and cook were very nice. The night manager had the nerve to be rude telling us close to 10pm we had to leave. Mind you some of us where still eating dessert since we just basically received our food. We or at least I will not be going there again.
We waited to be served, despite reservations. It was an hour after we were seated. We did not get the promised salad because " we are out of salad dressing. " Nothing was offered in its place. Our server Jennifer was good. Also, the chef Jimmy. However, once we finished our meal, a young man named Ray that claimed he was the manager told us we needed to leave because the restaurant was closed. Ray also said he had allowed us to stay an hour past close. This was a lie because I checked my phone. Yes, we were there past closing, but not an hour, and we had just finished eating and paying our bill. I probably will not be returning any time soon. Poorly managed restaurant. Overbooked reservations. What kind of restaurant runs out of salad dressing?
We had a party of 8 and the service was horrible. Bartender would look at empty drinks and walk away. The show by the cook was great, food wasn't great. Then service after meal was once again horrible. I'd it were me go to other location in lansing. For the money which I wasn't the one paying, I would Never go back to this location. It wasn't even busy which made the bad service even more frustrating.
Worst sushi ever! Terrible. Also, ordered a side of fried rice offered on the menu and the waiter nervously said, “the chef is not in the mood to make that, sorry.” Will not be returning. Wish I could give zero stars. We are seriously questioning the validity of these other reviews.
I order to go for lunch a lot. You can’t get delicious, fresh, & nutritious anywhere at this price point. The staff is always super nice and helpful.Dietary restrictions accommodatedNot sure
We party of four did not have reservations, but were promptly seated. Hibachi tables were not available, those were booked up, which was fine. Cocktails, soup and salad were served in promptly and then we waited. And waited. The server brought us an appetizer to share, gratis, because of the delay. At this point we had not even asked about our order. After an HOUR, and watching every table around us get served, we asked about our entrées. We were told there were still four orders ahead of us. There were literally three tables seated after us who ate and left while we waited. There were no apologies from the manager, he just said we had to wait. Our meals came out shortly after that, but the three of us who ordered steak all received it well done, not even remotely close to the medium rare we ordered. Nobody came to check on our meals. Nobody gave us the plum wine or ice cream that was part of the meal. Late for a hockey game as it was after spending 2 hours there, we paid and left. The food isn't terrible. But the overcooked steak, lack of accountability and responsibility of the management and failure to fulfill the dessert portion leaves me thinking I'll visit other options rather than return. Previously I'd had decent experiences. The attitude of the manager really ruined it overall this time around. Would like to have left a good review. Sad to see this place is not what it used to be.
Very disappointed in the food lately. Went tonight & the chef literally served White rice with egg & soy sauce for the fried rice & my husband ordered a double order of it. Said it was the nastiest fried rice he's ever had. Looked aweful too. He only had it on the grill for a min or so. It wasn't even fried, just warm. We have eaten here for years & love it & Mrs.Kim, but the food quality is definitely going down. The manager took the extra rice off our bill, but was short with me when I was asking why they got rid of all the veggies that go into fried rice. Won't be going back anytime soon.
Happy the bartender was an excellent companion for the beginning of my solo weekend. She was happy to accommodate my likes and dislikes and we even toasted to her new house. Ukai is lucky to have her!
