Delicious food! Ordered the 2pc cod and chips. The batter is light, crispy and easy to bite into. We've lived in Port for 4 years and finally tried it today. We'll definitely be back!! Pic below is my half eaten meal... just had to come and leave a review.
Ordered the Combo 2 with cods and prawns - both were very fresh and one of the best fish n chips in the area. Onion rings were great as well. Friendly staff and overall a very pleasant place. Dine-in area is small but most people takeout anyways :
This place is great under the new owners. They are always open. Fish and chips take a little long some times when busy but it is really good. Best fish in town for sure. Nice seating in the sun by the quay during the summer as well. Kid-friendliness: There is a playground right there.
Super fresh and delicious fish and chips! Big portions - we all left full!
Ordered one piece halibut & chips and a two piece halibut & chips. $42. Halibut was soggy inside crispy coating so likely frozen when it was cooked. 3 chunks made up the 1 piece while 5 chunks made up the 2 piece. Was convenient for dipping but difficult to determine portion size. Home cut fries were plentiful but limp. Everything could’ve used a little bit of seasoning. The tarter sauce was more like a salad dressing. Close to the Quay and washrooms.
Must visit spot if your in Port Alberni. I was literally shocked when I opened the box and saw the size of the fish! Peep the photo although I already started eating aha Richmond fish and chips could never
The cod was’nt too bad but the oil they use for the chips is not changed often enough, the old oil leaves a dark colour and burnt taste on the chips. Location is great and it’s a shame they can’t cook good fish and chips… they would make a killing if they could address this.
If you're looking for a really good and affordable place to eat fish, this is it. The tiny bistro offers 3-4 tables and take-away with a wide range of mainly deep-fried dished made from fish and seafood. I had the fish & chips with halibut which was really amazing and the best fish dish we had during our stay on Vancouver Island.
Visited 2 times so far and each time was delicious. We are from Newfoundland and really miss our Atlantic cod. The Alaskan cod from here was delicious and satisfied our craving! Homecut fries and gravy were also exactly what I wanted. Tip: call ahead for your order!!
Fish was OK the fries had a burnt taste as they were using old oil for frying. You might want to try other places in town.
