Highly recommend for all boardgame lovers! For $10/person entrance for 3 hours, this is a great way to spend the afternoon. The staff are attentive and nice and even teach you how to play the games so you don’t need to read the instructions!! Bonus points for the store paying their employees a living wage customers are not required to tip and accessible washrooms. There are many games and the staff ensure all pieces are accounted for after each game - great attention to detail. We got some food to eat: chicken strips and waffle fries, soup, tea, hot chocolate and zucchini chocolate loaf. The food was average but good to nibble on. We played Photosynthesis and Hues & Cues, we liked them both. Looking forward to coming again!
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I felt very comfortable and welcome there. The staff is very helpful and will give you suggestions for games and explain how to play them if you don’t know. They have lots of game options and my favorite was anomia if you’re a bit group. I recommend 100% the cheddar corn fritters, they are so tasty I am still dreaming of them. Great place to hang with friends, definitely recommend
We went to Turquoise Boat over the holidays and were met with a vibrant place with friendly servers and game enthusiasts. They also had an online waiting line which you can join. The place is vibrant. My partner enjoyed her soup of the day and my London fog was good. We were also given some good recommendations and we were able to discover a new expansion to a game that we enjoyed. I also really appreciated their no tip policy as they say they pay their workers well but of course part of this is reflected in the prices. So dont be surprised if its a little pricey but this seems like a good thing.
Best board game restaurant in Vancouver! The atmosphere and room are really great and bright. The staff are wonderful! They have great games with all their pieces and food too. The popcorn, candy, breakfast burrito and chicken strips are all great. Highly recommend!
I spent the afternoon with three friends playing a game and having some drinks and snacks. It was busy. We did the stay and play regular $10 for three hours, bit currently on special for $7 and ordered some things- coffees, teas, cool cocktail, 1/2 lb of gummies and some zucchini loaves. The decor is very cool. And they pay their staff a living wage so there is no tipping. I'll definitely be back!
Wow! I had such a fantastic time at Turquoise Goat! Wednesdays are student discount night, so take advantage of that if you're in university. BOOK AHEAD! It costs nothing to make a reservation and it will absolutely guarantee you a spot. I unfortunately saw a few people get turned away due to capacity limits. There were so many games to choose from. We played Exploding Kittens, Sabobatage, Wizard Thieves, and Coop. We liked Wizard Thieves so much, we bought a copy to take home! Wizard Thieves is also by a local artist! Food and drink was pricey, but they do not ask for tips as they pay their employees a living wage, so it works out about the same as what you would pay at most casual sit-down restaurants. I got the Lucky Duck drink and it was SO YUMMY! We also split chicken and fries, it was good but pretty standard, nothing crazy. All employees were super nice and helpful. Most of our games were recommended by a game steward. Definitely worth it to come here! Entry is a good price, but take into account food and drink costs and plan ahead. Loved it!
When I heard there would be a board game cafe opening in Vancouver, I got really excited to try it out, and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere is great, they have a selection of really great games, the service is fantastic and the food and drinks were really delicious as well. They have an area where you can also buy games as well. All in all a great experience and I look forward to coming back.
Loved loved loved this place. Went last Friday night with a group of friends. Online reservations were a breeze. When we got there we were greeted by a very friendly host/game ambassador, who can recommend games and even teach you how to play! We already had our hearts set on a few games, though. Drinks were cute and we stuck with popcorn, gummies, and waffle fries for the table, which were all as good as expected. Overall, we had such a blast. Look forward to coming back for sure!
The staffs here are amazing and the service too. The staffs can help you pick a game or explain a game to you. I love their mocha the best. THE REASON I GAVE 3 STARS IS I PAID $19 FOR 3 CHICKEN TENDER! Plus the stay and play fee add on that. Just come here for games and go to The Warehouse next door for cheaper food and cheaper drinks honestly.
Just when my partner and I were bemoaning about the lack of board game cafes in Vancouver, lo and behold Turquoise Goat opens up! Everything about this place is on point: the decor, the food & drinks, game selection, friendly staff, VIBES. Also being LGBTQ+ friendly and paying staff a living wage = cherry on top of an already perfect sundae. Came here with my partner and a couple other friends, and ended up staying for hours —we played 6 games! Thank you Lyona the game steward for helping us with rules when needed too. Will definitely be planning on coming here again!
