Entrance to the parking lot is somewhat hidden, and you can easily miss the turn. It was the August long weekend and there were no bugs or mosquitoes at all.nnWe covered a part of loop A and returned through the Voyager trail. The entire loops A & B could take double the time depending on your pace. We missed one turn on loop A heading counter clockwise, near the power station. There was a small sign on a tree, but we didn't see it and were heading towards another loop nearby. Rest of the signs were similar and you know what to look for after missing one.nnBeautiful scenery and plenty of spots to relax and enjoy.
Great place for a hike with varying scenery and trails. We di find a fair bit of what looked like poison ivy on the south trail to Norman dam, however none of actually got it. We were hiking in flip flops and shorts. I would recommend proper shoes and socks to avoid the ivy. The north part of the trail we did not see any and the trail changed to more of a rocky terrain that you would expect to find in the area. We did bump into a small bear on the north side, it ran off once we spotted it and wasn't an issue. There was also a nice cool breeze coming out from some rocks in the middle of the north side trails, we called it natural air conditioning, it was quite refreshing. I will return here to explore the other trails. I had my wife and two kids, it took us 3 hours to complete the trails we did. Bison A to Bison B and the Fox trail back.
Hike during very high lake level and dam water volume. Great trail and scenery. No garbage cans so pack out what you bring in.
A great moderate trail. Some parts are challenging but that's the beauty of it all. Amazing views
