Story

Located on one of North Woodstock's oldest building, Truant's Taverne, established in 1978 by Bruce Alexander, has been a local favorite for years. On May 23, 2017, some big changes are happening, as Ownership changes hands. Dave O'Rourke, a Lincoln/Woodstock Native and prominent real estate broker, purchased the restaurant. Many changes are in store for the future! Dave and his management team is excited for the next chapters of this establishment, and the changes to come, please stop in and check us out!

I really hope that our last two visits were due to being off season. This is a frequent stop for us. The quality has gone down hill as of the last year or so. The fried chicken used to be great, but the order I got the last time was over breaded, greasy and over cooked. My wife got the clam chowder, it was warm on top, but cold the rest of the way through. It did have lots of clams and the flavor was good. The fried pickles were good. The kids love them. The Mac and cheese was ok, and the fish and chips were good. We went for lunch, and it felt like we got reheated food from the night before. We will try again.

First visit today after a hike. Glad to find the parking out back and see there is a patio for the good weather. The food was great and they have a lot to choose from on the menu. Looking forward to coming back again.

Was there last week. Wonderful staff. Had the steak and cheese sandwich with fries. The sandwich was amazing and the fries beyond delicious. Beer was nice and cold and they have a great selection too.

Friends and family welcome. My pulled pork was slightly dry and over cooked, but my friends enjoyed the steak tips and Greek salad. Bar room was not staffed well enough for a Saturday at 3:00, but the lone bartender was courteous and quick with drinks.

Food was okay but the service was fast. Every place around was an extremely long wait but they got us seated and feed quickly.
