Examiner showed up on time, was kind and allowed me to ask questions before the test. She had a print out of the different parking and turns which is helpful to review. She made the experience comfortable and we discussed the test afterwards which is great since then you know where you lost points and why. Overall was impressed and pleased with the process!
Service is reasonable but the business hours are terrible. If you have a full time job you essentially can't get service because they have no weekend or evening hours. This is a government service provider and they should make an effort to serve people with jobs.
At first I had issue but the manager responded to this review and was top-tier with customer service. He heard and acknowledged my concerns and asked me to come back in to rectify my issue. Tri-town overall was decent and even when there was issue with a visit the staff and manager were more than willing to help fix it.
For my road test My first vehicle got denied because of a small crack on the windshield. I explained I had another car but it also had a crack on the windshield. I explained the crack on the windshield to the examiner and they said it was fine. The car had the crack in the windshield when I took my first test as well. Upon bringing said vehicle to the registries it was no longer fine. Now I have to pay another $150 to rebook another test. Not everybody has an abundance of money to get a windshield that has a small crack in it fixed or pay for another test when the driving examiner said it would be fine after I explained the crack to her. Waste of time and money, just go to bonnyville.
Been in Cold Lake for 8 years, had nothing but problems here. Everything was always made more difficult than it needed to be. The staff are extremely rude and aren’t helpful. I know it’s inconvenient to everyone in Cold Lake, but do yourself a favour and go to Bonnyville.
UNFAIR TESTING ENVIRONMENT How many people do you know that have repeatedly tried and failed to pass their driver's written test in this office. With its 20' high ceilings, all hard surfaces that promote and create an echo of the multiple conversations occurring at the counter. Conversations that are all about the test material that people are trying to concentrate on. It's utterly ludacris. Would anyone ever expect their kid to do a college or university entrance exam in a loud room full of people having everyday conversations about the same subject matter. Probably not so why are people doing drivers test at this office expected to endure that. Put them in a quiet back room with camera surveillance and have monitors at each wicket so the employees can keep am eye on them. Or at the very least offer the use of noise cancelling head sets. PLEASE SHARE IF YOU AGREE and feel free to comment. I'd like to know what you think. What ever did come of the sound attenuation decor? My post was three years ago. No change no noise attenuation decor ever surfaced. Was the response just lip service or did the changes get lost in delivery?
Great staff who are pleasant and helpful, yet thorough and professional. If you arrive and expect people to cater to your unpreparedness, don't blame your failures on the employees who have a job to do and require proper documents to ensure the safety of all of us. Thanks for doing a great job!
This review was previously one star, I was previously there with a negetive bias and this wasn't an objective review. Pretty much every time I show up here, there's a reason I need to get something re-done and come in a second time for it. This time specifically, a title transfer without having the vehicles year make and model on the form. It had the VIN, which gives you the year make and model, but I guess the staff havnt been provided the tools for this. That being said, I have only ever had negetive/rude experiences over 6 months ago with the older of the staff, specifically relating to getting my license transfered from a different province. Hence the negative bias, and expecting to deal with BS every time I go in. If you're friendly with the staff and go in with a good mindset, they're generally friendly back. Ask lots of questions, get what you can in writing over email for requirements for drivers tests, title transfers, etc.
Really until Tuesday? No wonder everyone goes to Bonnyville. You people are tremendously unhelpful even when you are open.
Called to inquire about getting the A.B photo I.D for my parent whom hadn’t ever had an A.B photo I.D. The woman I spoke with was nice until I mentioned my parent was indigenous. Her tone changed she also told me don’t waste my time coming because I won’t get the help I need. I explained to the lady my parent has their birth certificate, A.B health care card, tax return paper and proof of mailing address with all those items on hand the woman said that it wasn’t enough that my parent needs a piece of photo I.D to apply for A.B photo I.D identification card. I then called surrounding registry Elk Point the lady I spoke with informed me my parent has all the proper paperwork for A.B photo I.D identification and that would we should come in to get set up. I mentioned that I was calling from Cold Lake she then mentioned going to Cold Lake registry I exclaimed my phone inquiry with Cold Lake and why I was calling surrounding registries. The lady from Elk Point registry was extremely appalled at the information and the demeanour I received from the Cold Lake registry. The Elk Point registry mentioned that all registries Provence wide have a policy to follow. No registry can make up their own policies. All the while my parent was so sweet and felt empathy for the arrogant, rude racist woman I dealt with over the phone at Cold Lake Registry. This isn’t the first time racism has been experienced here at this specific location. I came in for the drivers road test this summer paid the expensive amount then wasn’t told I had to be a half hour early before my road test. I showed up for my road test on the dot assuming I was going to do my road test. The lady told me to wait she’ll ask the instructor if she would give me a chance at the road test the instructor gave one look at me and shook her head no. The lady came back mentioned I had to rebook and repay for the road test. I was livid walked out of there without a word and I am now looking to book in Edmonton. Honestly haven’t experienced this amount of racism in my entire life since moving to Cold Lake. I unfortunately don’t carry the empathy for racist individuals as my parent did. Please get your employees some self help services for mental health. Indigenous peoples are not an enemy, we are just people trying to live in a society that wasn’t built for us.
