Came here on Super Bowl evening! Got chicken wings and wedges at the hot table for a great deal!!! Thank you to the wonderful two young ladies working the hot table station! Y'all were great and service was wonderful. Thank you
The selection is good. However, I'm not impressed with their attention ro health and safety.nnPreviously their cherry tomatoes were rotting on the shelf and buzzing with small flies. I reached out to a produce employee that was working at the time and to the management by email. The same rotting produce was still there with the small flies having spread to other nearby produce.nnI've found a puffed out package of lunch meat that was grey and obviously spoiled. When letting a staff member know about the issue, they showed little concern.nnRecently there was a bread recall due to a safety issue of small pieces of metal in the bread that our family buys. I reached out to the store multiple times to see if our recent purchase was impacted by the safety recall and received no response. No response to a product safety inquiry... For the safety of our family versus the cost of a loaf a bread, the bread was eventually thrown out.nnThis store is also one of the stores under the Loblaws corporate umbrella that has set up plastic walls and electronic gates treating customers like criminals. The feeling of shopping in that environment isn't a positive one. When compared to other stores including the new Food Basics coming to Ingersoll, there are other grocery options that provide a more welcoming environment and demonstrate a commitment to the safe quality of food being sold to families.nnWhile the selection is good, they've also recently cut out some items that were family favorites leaving only lower quality alternatives that we've had to go to the local Foodland for.nnUpdate:nnAbout a month ago I purchased two containers of Bolthouse Farms Vanilla Chai for a cooking project. One of the bottles had a shard of glass in it. I reached out to the manufacturer to let them know and then also reached out to the Independent to let them know as well in case other bottles in the batch had the same problem.nnWhen I contacted the Independent they asked me to bring the two bottles in and that they would replace them. When I dropped off the bottles, I was a little surprised that they didn't replace them but was advised that Rob the store owner would reach out to me shortly and they took down all of my contact information.nnThat was a month ago. Zero contact over what could have been an extremely bad incident if one of our family members had swallowed the piece of glass. The problem is a manufacturer problem, not a reseller-caused problem, and to be honest I could care less about the replacement bottles.nnWhat I do care about is that I was provided an offer to make the issue right I had to dump my entire cooking project which included a lot of other more costly ingredients which was not honoured. I was told that I would have a call from Rob, which was not honoured. One of my family could have swallowed a piece of glass and ended up in hospital...and the Independent hasn't given even a token effort to show care towards the issue.nnBased on this pattern of lack of care towards product safety or customer concerns, I have to drop my rating down to 1 star. I am sincerely hoping that the new Food Basics will better serve Ingersoll. I noticed that the Independent recently started putting out No Name specials each week like other stores under the Loblaw's banner, but at the same time there was a general increase in the cost on many of the other items that we usually purchase. Hopefully the Food Basics will be more forthright with customers with better pricing.
They sell EXPIRED food.nOn Saturday February 21, 2026, I bought two bags of frozen croissants. I just noticed today that they expired in August 2024! That's disgusting. They were on sale for $1, so the manager obviously knew they were selling these past the expiration date.nI assume when I buy food from a grocery store, it didn't expire a year and a half ago. I have photos that I am unable to add to this review.nIf you bought the frozen all-butter croissants within the last few weeks, check the expiration dates! I contacted customer service but haven't received a response.
I recently ordered a gender reveal cake from the cake department and it was beyond my expectations!nThe design was perfect, the price was very reasonable, and the cake itself tasted 10/10 — moist, fresh, and absolutely delicious.nThe lady I spoke to was incredibly helpful and made the whole process smooth and easy. Everyone at the reveal loved it.nHighly recommend!
Clean and pretty loaded with all kitchen basics even some clothing for all ages, I can name it a mini Superstore. Optimum points a good option to collect here. I like that they have small packages with fresh meat to make it easier for a small family and also they always have some 30-50% deals for different food products on the shelves. Watch for offers and deals online.
