I would leave less than a star I would. We got in legally and they didn’t give us wristbands so we asked them for a stamp and a wristband. They put the blame completely on us and then my friend asked why they didn’t give us one and they said it was our fault. The bouncer proceeded to grab my friend aggressively and try and throw her out. The male bouncer said it was “completely in his rights” and proceeded to aggressively throw her out and yell at her. I’m never coming back here.
We paid $5 each at the door to the bouncer and then we had to pay another $5 each to the person at the door. When I called them out on double charging people, they said they had "no idea" what the bouncers were doing. So ridiculous. I asked them to explain it and they just kept saying we had to pay twice to get in. So if you want to pay $20 for two people to get in to a shotty bar with staff who don't give a shot about you, this place is for you.
The bouncers are actual spans of satan. aside from the rude bar tenders and sticky floor i thought this place was still bearable. until my experience last night. as i was walking up the stairs a bouncer stopped me and told me to go back down to put my drink down. not like it’s the same drink they made me but ok. As i turn around to put the drink down the bouncer tripped me down the stairs and i fell and broke my ankle. What a c**t! anyway that’s my rant. f this place.
It was my first visit to Trappers Alley. Long queue outside the bar made me go there, but it was a bit over rated. Live DJ and inexpensive beer on a weekend is a plus to go here. Crowd was also lit and trendy. But floor was sticky and it was over crowded. Guelph being a small town this place is bit happening and but not covid restrictions friendly.
The floor is sticky af, kind of like my love life. The chicks that go here are mostly all underage, Epstein would love it here! The drinks are cheaper than a dirty hóóker on prom night, hell yeah brother. The staff are a bunch of asshóles just like me, perfect! See you this weekend!
Bartender said I gave $25 when I gave $40! She gave me $3 back and told me I was wrong, ridiculous service I would not recommend spending your money here they are they are thieves if your drunk… however I still noticed and am disgusted that the bartender took advantage of that, she was a small brown girl just trying to steal money for tips and I am appalled and would recommend that you would go anywhere else in the area
If I could rate this bar less, I would. We went to this bar on Saturday night, despite the reviews we thought we would give this place the opportunity to change our minds.. unfortunately this was not the case whatsoever. The blonde manager, Hillary - displayed extreme discriminatory behaviour. For an adult it was pretty sad to watch her bully someone for something they themselves could not have helped. My brother in law has cancer and lost his eye because of it, the manager thought that was a good excuse to treat him badly. She immediately was rude to him when he asked for a drink, then she started glaring at him, giving him dirty looks and then proceeded to make fun of him with the others behind the bar. My girlfriend walked up and asked her why she was treating him in that manor, that he had cancer - he was not just drunk with his « eyes rolling all over the place » which his eyes cannot roll all over the place because he only has one. Following asking why she was treating him that way and only him, she then had three bouncers throw my very petite girlfriend out, just for asking why the manager Hillary thought she could treat him that way. She very clearly stated that because she owns the palace she can treat customers however she pleases. She had six well paying customers thrown out because she didn’t like the look of one of them. If they continue behaviour like this eventually they will have a lawsuit on their hands. Just because someone had cancer and lost their eye does not give you any right to treat them as less then a human being. It’s disgusting that as an adult there’s still people out there who have the audacity to treat another person that way. We are beyond disgusted and disappointed that a bar would have such horrible, rude, disrespectful and discriminatory employees. Please beware if you’re less then perfect looking, specifically a cancer patient , the manager Hillary will say you’re too drunk and will throw you out without any regards. If you read most the other reviews - they almost all include her horrid behaviour towards people. As a establishment trying to make money, I would replace the employees you do have who continuously display this kind of behaviour because as I said, she’s going to treat the wrong person badly, and you will end up with a lawsuit on your hands, especially with all these reviews verifying her discriminatory behaviour on many different occasions. I would Absolutely NOT recommend this place to anyone. I also noticed they were very clearly letting in young women who were not of age to be drinking. On top of everything, It was very dirty and the floor was extremely sticky, despite just opening the doors. If you walk a bit further down the strip there is much better cleaner bars with much kinder managers and employees with much better service all around.
The worst place i’ve ever been - if i could give it 0 stars I would. Paid to get in - neither the ATMS in Trappers OR Palace worked to take money out. Asked the staff if i could leave, take out money elsewhere, and come back. They said yes, stamped me on top of me having the wristband for that day, and then refused to let me back in when i came back with the money. Had to complain to management - who then gave me my coat back after questioning me and making it clear that they didn’t believe me, but kicked me out despite the coat check girl remembering me checking in, my wrist band, and the stamp they had gave me. NEVER planning on returning to this place. Please someone contact me because never have I received such appalling service when i literally clarified and they said i could leave and return. If they had said no then okay fine but I literally asked before leaving and he said yes and the same guy wouldn’t let me back in. Was working the back door on April 9th 2022.
Trappers is def a student bar, needs some TLC but always a fun, cheap drinking night. They have jager bomb specials which is awesome, as well as the dollar beer nights. My friends and I enjoy going here over other DT Guelph bars, the staff are friendly and fun but also take their position seriously. I’m writing this review to give the bar tenders and security credit - I witness them get harassed every weekend and they handle it professionally. Shout out to the girls behind the bar! They’re fast and always polite to my group. Probably cause we never yell at them or demand drinks! The bouncers always help the girls with rude customers and keep other customers safe from fights etc. Keep the prices cheap, and we will be back every weekend!
I am a young 21 year old girl and it is -12 outside. We lost our coat ticket and the staff and manager, refused to give me my coat. I had photo evidence of the coat and described exactly what was in the pockets. I am heading to BC tomorrow and they refused to give me my coat until 8pm tomorrow. So ridiculous. They let me use random tickets on the ground, but just because I didnt have my ticket I was stranded with a phone at 1% and no coat. Unacceptable, never go to trappers. Worst bar I’ve ever been to. Update.. my friend went back today at 7:40 and they lost my coat because someone else found my ticket on the ground and got my coat. I have also called at least 10 times today and there has been no answer.
