Worst waitress ever seen! Our group of 6 went in right when they first open at 11:30am and the waitress Chrissy already gave us an attitude and did not make us feel welcomed at all. She was not polite and did not ask about our food or any needs during the course of the entire meal. Food was just alright. When we did separate billing, we noticed only some of us got the extra 5% charge right above the total see picture. We asked Chrissy what is the charge for and she said she doesn’t know and asked us outrageously ‘It’s just $0.15, what is the big deal? Does it really matter to you?’ and walked away. I mean $0.15 is not much but at least I would wanna know what I’m paying extra for. The restaurant was in lunch hour so it was a bit busy, she came back with the card machine and said ‘Seriously I don’t have time for this’ and basically forced us to just pay without explaining the additional charge. She even threw the receipts on the table after seeing she did not get good tips. She did not say a word of ‘Sorry’ or ‘Thank you’ during the entire visit and we were all very annoyed by the bad service. Honestly my worst encounter with waitress and would never come back to this restaurant.
2022 Back again another year and was skeptical because of all the horrible reviews. There aren't a lot of dining options so we took a risk and were pleased with the food and service. Yes, there was the often mentioned "short staffed" sign outside the restaurant which was true according to how long the wait was. The phone/in person service was friendly and courteous and the food was tasty and fresh. Despite the wait, we will be back again. 2021 Second time getting takeout here and was not disappointed. The service on the phone and in person was friendly and courteous. My two orders of fish and chips were quick and of good serving size. I would definitely eat here again.
Amazing food and fantastic atmosphere. Loved being able to sit right by the water!
Food was spectacular and the patio, lovely. On the Sunday afternoon when we visited, service was a bit slow but the waitress very apologetic about the delay. We enjoyed our food immensely - worth the wait!
Perfect spot to have a nice meal on the water. Great staff & service with a home cooked meal feeling! Can’t wait to come back.
It is hard to give this place a rating as we had two completely different experiences. The first visit I would give 4 stars because we were given a table by one server and yet another server directed another group to the same table. They were a little disorganized. However, the food was very good and we enjoyed eating by the water. Our second experience would be a one star. Unfortunately we arrived at a busy time. We expected a wait and were put on a list to be called when a table came free. About half an hour after sitting at a table by the door one server came out and put a ‘Closed Early’ sign out front. She addressed the customers who were standing nearby smoking and told them ‘Not you, don’t worry, the kitchen is just so backed up’. She didn’t say anything to us. We assumed as we were on the list it meant we would get in soon. After waiting another 20mins we called to check as we hadn’t got a text and we’re worried it was getting late. The girl was very polite and explained that they couldn’t take any more orders as the kitchen had a 2 hour backlog. She also couldn’t find the paper where my husbands cell phone number had been written down. Once again poor organization!
Food and service was great here. They have a really nice patio overlooking the water. We had the fish tacos, burger and fish and chips
The only time I’ve ever given a single star. On two occasions, called to ensure they’re open for dinner. Google says open until 8. On both occasions, no outgoing message on their phone and no change to their Google profile that they’re closed when we arrive with 8 guests. 30 minutes by boat…sign on the door! These folks don’t know how to run a business. On both occasions, folks furious that they don’t answer the phone and nothing more than a sign on the door in unacceptable. Most patrons are cottagers and therefore, a limited season plus, travelling some distance to come for dinner. Basic stuff. We try to spend our money locally but the general attitude of many leaves me wondering why. Rather than spend $150 on dinner, next time we’ll spend that on steak and lobster and eat in.
Stay away unless you have time and money to waste. Reserved a table, restaurant only half full. Half the standard menu items were sold out. Service was deplorable - almost 2 hours before we received our food. We watched half our order sitting under heating lamps for at least 15 minutes. We were seated outside and by the time we got our food which was cold it was pitch black and we couldn’t even see our table. The outside lights weren’t working and we were forced to use the flashlight function on our phones in order to see our meals. At no point did we get an apology or an explanation from our waitress, in fact after waiting for over an hour and a half we politely asked the whereabouts of our appetizers, the waitress snapped at us. The fish was lukewarm, the chips hard. No dressing on the Greek salad. Wings were both over cooked and cold. The strawberry daiquiri was mainly syrup. The waitress didn’t ask if our meals were OK they weren’t nor offer drink refills we went without We received our meals so late that as we were trying to eat the other servers were busy packing away neighbouring tables. Four members of our party work in hospitality, so we have sympathy for fellow servers, but this service was atrocious and inexcusable. We have eaten here in past years and thoroughly enjoyed it, hence our visit this year, but never again. Hands down this was our worst dining experience ever and the first time we have been driven to pen a review.
Located across the bridge from Robinson’s Country Store in Dorset, Ontario. Busy at times. Just be patient, the food is worth the wait. Might also be a good idea to call ahead and reserve a table. Friendly staff. Excellent fish and chips.
