Social Media Participation Guidelines / Policy. Please read below for terms and conditions governing the Town's official social media sites.

This is the Town of Ponoka's Official Facebook page. This page is a place to share information, celebrate together, ask questions and discuss our programs or plans for the future. We hope everyone enjoys taking part and appreciate hearing from residents, business, industry and visitors!

Social Media Participation Guidelines

The Town of Ponoka encourages everyone to participate in our social media via Facebook and Twitter. Social media enables us to provide information quickly, share pictures, and repost information of interest to people who live and work in Ponoka. Information posted on social media is done by authorized Town staff and is considered public information. You may address questions or comments to the Town publicly, but please remember that it will be visible and remain on the site for others to see. You may also contact the Town by phone or email with your questions. The Town phone number is 403-783-4431. Our general email address is [email protected]. The Town maintains social media sites in accordance with our mission to provide accessible government and quality services. We have a strong commitment to serving our community. In keeping with the Town's values, we will be honest, responsible and trustworthy in all of our online communications. All of our communications will be transparent and open.

Please take note that the Town of Ponoka maintains a workplace valuing respect and dignity. Whether in person or online we ask that everyone honour this in their communications with our staff and with other online visitors. If any comments or discussions are considered not to be in keeping with our official goals, mission or values they will be moderated in the interests of maintaining the Town's policies as well as protecting the town, its staff, its residents and businesses, its volunteers, contracted services and others from unlawful comments governed by Canadian laws and statutes related to electronic communications, as well as to protect Town staff and representatives from abusive, targeted, harrassing or bullying posts of an unsubstantiated nature.

Should you have any inquiries or comments of a sensitive nature, we invite you to visit us in person to discuss your questions or point of view. We treat discussions on our online page the same way as we would treat them if a person was standing at our reception counter, with an expectation of civil courtesy and respect.

The Town of Ponoka has posted guidelines about social media use under ‘About’ on its official Facebook page. By participating in the Town of Ponoka’s Social Media platforms, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions in place to govern use and conduct by social media operated by the Town for its use.

You are solely responsible for any content you post. You may not misrepresent yourself or take the identity of someone else while using the Town of Ponoka’s social media sites.

You agree not to use the Town of Ponoka’s official social media sites in the following ways:

• Defamation
• Harassment
• Spam
• Offensive content
• Aggressive behavior
• Illegal activities
• Promotion of commercial products
• Disclosure of private or confidential information

You agree not to post content that is illegal, obscene, defamatory, threatening and off-topic or abuse intellectual property rights on the Town of Ponoka’s sites.
The Town of Ponoka reserves the right to review, edit and/or delete any user-generated content postings in its sole discretion.

The Town of Ponoka is not responsible for the content of shared information or links posted to raise awareness of other organizations or events. These linkages do not constitute endorsements by the Town of Ponoka.

By posting content on any online channel owned by the Town of Ponoka, you give the Town permission to use your content including the right to copy, distribute, transmit, display, reproduce, edit, translate, reformat and incorporate into a collective work.
