As a resident of over 30 years, my interactions with the town have all been positive and fruitful. I avail myself of the on-line services as much as possible for various local issues all of which were addressed and resolved in a timely manner. Recently, I had difficulty resetting my password and called directly. The person on the line was professional, friendly, knowledgeable and genuinely wanted to help. She not only took a report of the issue it involved a struggling tree, but she also addressed the technical issue which was resolved quickly. Within the hour, I had a call from IT regarding the technical issue to be assured that my account was functioning properly. Soon thereafter, someone from the town had received the report on the tree and made the inspection on his was to another appointment nearby. Impressive! One phone call, three people in three different departments and quick results. This is just the most recent of many positive interactions with employees of the town over the years and in each case the people involved were top notch, professional, friendly, knowledgable, concerned and inspire confidence and pride in our town. Keep it up!
Parking in this city has been a disappointing experience. I parked with my valid disability permit, unaware that payment was still required, as many other cities offer courtesy exemptions for individuals with accessibility needs. Clearer signage and more consistent accessibility policies would go a long way in making the city more inclusive and accommodating for those with disabilities.
We had a pool done in 2022 and we still have not received our deposit back to the city. They are keeping our deposit for no reason. Be very careful when you are doing a pool permit in Oakville.
Well it is the most livable town in Canada :nUpdate Summer 2022: Umm, not so sure of that anymore, I don't shop here, and I don't eat here anymore, we go to Burlington 90% of time which is way friendlier, cleaner, well organized, very well managed public areas and best of all more welcoming compared to the No-Fun Town of Oakville! I'm sorry but it is true.
Getting a building permit use to be so easy it’s such a awful frustrating experience no support only answer questions through online portal takes days to get a response that is not helpful 5 word answers ask again 3 days ; word answer no one to call dealing with Oakville building department is a disaster
