Story

Topper Bakery got it's start in 1939 here on historic 25th Street in Ogden, Utah. Since that time we have been creating some of the most delicious pastries, cookies, brownies, donuts and fresh baked bread for all of Weber county and Utah.

VERY DISAPPOINTING, to say the least. I called a month in advance to see if it was possible to place a custom order for unicorn sugar cookies for my daughter's 1st birthday party. I was told to bring in the cookie cutter, along with a picture of what I wanted and that they would be able to make them. I brought in the cutter and was then told to email the photo to their decorator. I called to double check a few days later that my email had been received, and to also get a final price. I then called 2 days before my daughter's party to confirm and to get a pickup time. They said since it was a Saturday to come in anytime between 10am and 2pm to pick them up. I told them that my daughter's party was at 2pm, so they'd have to be picked up earlier and again they reiterated that I could pick them up at 10am. Day of the party, my husband went to pick them up at 10am, and they were not finished. The girl at the front said that they had tried multiple times calling the number that I wrote down on the bag with the cutter, to no avail. I never wrote down my phone number. I sent it in my email. Then, the girl told me it was probably my phone since when I had last spoken to her I said my phone was acting up. I never said that. Each time I called on my work phone, which is a land line. I understand people make mistakes, and obviously somebody within their bakery wrote my number down wrong, but why lie to me about calling me, or that my phone is acting up? Check my email. I asked the girl if I could get a discount or refund of any sort since they weren't ready when they said they would be, and she said no. She actually laughed and said no, because it wasn't 2pm yet. She told my husband to come back at noon.He went back at noon, and they were finished alright. They looked as if my 1 year old daughter could have frosted them better. We reluctantly handed them out as favors, and everybody stated how ugly and stale they were. This top pic is what I showed their decorator what I wanted, the bottom one is what they did.
I've tried with this place too many times. It's right by my house so I like to walk over and get some cookies for my kids after school and a donut with my coffee. It's fine, nothing special and prices are good. My issue is that they just don't care . They've set my bag on the ground of their dirty floor to put cookies in it. They haven't given me my full order . Today I ordered an extra donut and they still put it in the white bag..everything is squished together. Just a waste of time and money.
I had a vision of cute wedding dress cookies for a shower I was hosting. Toppers was the only place I could find that did this kind of thing. I placed my order and then read other reviews here. Then I was really skeptical about how they would turnout. They were ready on time and exactly what I asked for. Looks can sure be deceiving! I totally judged this place on its looks and I was so wrong. The cookies looked a little overdone, so I was worried, but when I bit in they were pure heaven! Everything a sugar cookie should be! They were really cute too!! everyone at the shower wanted to know where they were from. Well done guys!!!
Before the building caught on fire, I bought a dozen donuts and they could have been better, it was my first time at topper bakery and I was not impressed.
Best Brownie award!!! If you have a large group you need goooood food for like Brownies GO HERE! We have used them for 25 years or more for our company Christmas party ,and it's always so goood.
My favorite bakery in Ogden!!! Their dinner & cinnamon rolls are always top notch! I love their cookies & donuts, too!!! Just walking into Toppers is a treat for your senses!! Customer service is good, too.
Donuts and bread are great! I've seen some not so pretty cakes come from this place and probably would not order an event cake from here. Other than that, try the maple bars!
I went to Toppers because I thought I would support more of Ogden's local owners. However, I was very disappointed. I went in 3 weeks before the day of the event to get a custom order cake for a baby shower. I gave them a picture and told them that I needed the wording in Spanish. I gave them a date and pick up time of 10AM. When I arrived at 10AM the day of the event to pick up the cake, they told me it wasn't ready and that she needed an extra 10-20 minutes. Annoyed, I said it was ok and went to go do other things in preparation for the event. I arrived two hours later to find an ugly cake waiting for me. The colors of the cake were wrong and the wording was in English and Spanish. I didn't mind the wording, but the cake color was the most upsetting because I printed out a picture of what I wanted; the colors were vibrant and you could tell it was yellow not white. I didn't complain because I had to get moving. Besides the design was pretty close, it was just the cake's base color that was wrong. I didn't think more of it and paid for it, which the price wasn't bad for a custom cake. But it got worse! When we went to cut the cake it was not what I ordered!! I ordered a chocolate cake and it was a white cake!! It was dry, no flavor!! I called to complain about the order on Monday and was told they could do nothing about it, I could call again the next morning and complain to someone in charge. I was really upset that they didn't show empathy towards the situation. I do not recommend this place. Rather pay a bit more to get exactly what I order. Will never order from here again.
