Made reservations and were seated right away. All the staff was really nice and attentive. They give you bread and a garlic olive spread which was delicious because the subtle olive flavor blends in perfectly with the garlic. I got the Cajun shrimp which were juicy and well seasoned. It comes with four jumbo shrimp and then there's like a palm sized portion of a soft breading under. I'm not sure what it's called but it was also really good and the roasted peppers complimented the whole dish so well. My date got the lollipop lamb chops medium and they were so juicy and perfect, we literally couldn't have asked for better. Not pictured are the garlic mashed potatoes we got as a side and they were so creamy and delicious. I have to say, the showstopper was the peanut butter creme brulee. The top layer was burnt just right and thin and it was really creamy and so flavorful that you can't stop eating it but you also never want it to end. It's literally the best creme brulee I've ever had and I went to a tech high school for culinary so that's saying something. The atmosphere was nice and tranquil and the bathroom was also well decorated and clean. 10/10 would highly recommend if you want to spend a good bit of money for a great night out.
I have lived in this area for 50+ years and have never been to Tony D's. We did not have reservations, we were walk in's. My significant other had been a couple times before. The staff were attentive and overly accommodating. The meals, the wine, the specialty drinks, the bread w/ dipping oil, dessert, after dinner cocktail, all absolutely excellent. We enjoyed every aspect of Tony D's this is what going out to dinner should be like.
Came in with a group of 10 for my friends 30th birthday. Booked for 12:15 for lunch. We arrived and were excited to try the food because most people had never been before. Waitress was nice enough, answered questions took our orders and set off on sending the food to the kitchen. It took THIRTY minutes for the starter SALADS to hit the table, let me also say there were only THREE tables in the entire restaurant. Another 30 minutes pass and we finally got our entrees. By this time we had been in the restaurant for almost two hours. When I went to find the waitress, who never asked if anyone wanted another drink, didn’t come to refill waters etc, she was on her cell phone and was put out when I mentioned we needed the checks because we had to leave and the food took an hour to get to the table. Would like to give this place another try, the house salad was nice and the entrees were good but the speed and service was far from what I was hoping for for a lunch service with three tables in the restaurant.
First time ever coming here and this place was amazing! Our waiter was very professional, fast and friendly. Oh the food OMG! AMAZING! We had the blackened swordfish and veal special and let me say we would drive an hour again to eat here.
I've been to a lot of Italian restaurants across the state and this was my first experience at Tony D's. I went with a friend who suggested it. I have driven by many times but never knew that it was there. My God, what a treat! Hands down, this is the vest Italian restaurant in the state. It checks all of the boxes from atmosphere to service quality, authentic food and oh my.... The veal parm! It was the very best ive ever had. I can't wait to go back. A++
Dirty disgusting worn out carpet. Cold restaurant. Our table wobbled side to side like a seesaw.. offered bread which we declined. Ordered 2 ceasar salads w blackened salmon. Waited about 10 min, waitress comes back to say they ran out of romaine lettuce. So we then asked for bread which she brought with no chopped olive and oil dip, which every other table had… the salads were small portions with 4 croutons on each plate and we were charged $31 for each of them for lunch!!! ROYAL RIP OFF!!!! $62 for salads! I would avoid this place!
We had an excellent meal there last night. The service was friendly and the food spectacular. I had a 22 oz.Cowboy ribeye with lobster and shrimp, couldn't finish it after indulging in the best calamari appetizer ever. Also the Soprano style banquets there are very cool.
Amazing service from start to finish. The drink specials were fantastic. Chicken parm to die for. The zuppa was out of this world. Our waitress took amazing care of us even during a slammed evening. We will be back and tell others to come to this Italian treasure.
Tony D's is fine dining at it's best. If you are ever in the New London area, you won't want to miss dining at this great restaurant. The food is truly a taste of Italy. This is outstanding Italian cuisine made fresh for your taste bud's. Outstanding service and an obeisance that is quite impressive. I highly recommend Tony D's. Take the wife, your lady friend or just treat yourself. Have your Christmas party there.. Either way, you won't regret it. Very clean and plenty of parking.
I’ve been to this place twice. The first time I was excited because I heard some good reviews a while back and the place has been in business for a long time. The parking is terrible, and the place is very aged. Dirty carpeted stair well leads you into a basement that makes you feel like you’ve traveled back in time 5 or 6 decades. The service was good, food was ok but very pricey for what was served. I thought I would never return, however I was gifted a gift card for Christmas. We decided to try it again and I wish I didn’t! The second experience was disgusting! The veal Marsala made me sick to my stomach! The first time they allowed us to substitute the house salad for a Caesar salad, but this time they said they couldn’t. The house salad was not good. I would never Recommend this restaurant to anyone!
