Cozy and artsy decor, rustic and elegant, warm service, good food. The waitress was friendly and accommodating, gave a nice suggestion of asparagus salad which was refreshing to start with. The octopus and chicken plates were tender, succulent and flavourful. Although overpriced considering the quality and few dinner tables, a great “once in a while” type of experience.
This place is a hidden gem! If you are looking for a nice casual/elegant evening this is the place. The servers were very nice and the ambiance was perfect for the summer. The restaurant had an authentic feel and had good music. The food was good, not excellent but good. It’s worth going once for the chicken & the octopus.
Great environment! We weren’t able to get the barrel table that we had reserved. The food was good, but not great - some items were definitely better than others. The wine was delicious. The server was great and knew her wine, she gave great recommendations.
One of the best octopus I've had in Montreal. Very soft and sooo flavorful! The service was great and all the dishes were beautifully seasoned and well presented
Excellent service and food was just amazing. We don't speak French and our waitress really helped us out. We will definitely come back againFood: 5/5
If you are trying Tinc Set for the first time, you must go for lunch and grab the Octopus sandwhich, it's a MUST ! Perfectly cooked not to mention that the olives are delicious as well ! And of course if you love wine, they have a wide selection from Spain ! Highly recommend to try !
Exceptional experience. The service is great, the ambiance is wonderful. The food is top quality, and very well executed. Not the biggest menu, but lots of interesting choices. And extensive wine list, all enjoyable, but not your typical wines... You won't find any in the SAQ! Come with and open mind, and you will be rewarded. One of my go-to restaurants in Montreal, highly recommended.
Food is good, but the wine was a huge disappointment. To start they suggested a sparkling wine, they described as "Festive", not only did it taste bad sour, flat, unpleasant, but it was more like a white beer. Then a decent white, unusual taste profile but after it opened up it was fine. They then suggested a Merlot - this was an undeveloped wine, like a Beaujolais nouveau but with a raspberry-like flavour, no body, no structure, like a sour fermented juice. Terrible. Finally I asked for a Mencia based wine: it was very young, unbalanced, with a bitter finish. 4 wines and only 1 that was of minimum quality. And the wine prices are ridiculously high relatively to the cost. So, try the wines at your own risk. Response to owner: My group was polite but unanimous that the wines were a disappointment. Owners should be open to feedback. You can pretend all is perfect or you can listen and improve.
Very nice staff, very high prices for what we got in food. Caution if you have an issue: cuisine is noticeably salty. That said, everything is at the quality level you hope for, and the atmosphere is great. The bread in oil was maybe the best food item we had there. Dietary restrictions: Very salty, like, noticeably, even to my salt- loving gf. Intolerable to me as a cardiac patient.
Nice ambiance with kind staff, but we found it odd that despite specializing in wines 'tinc set' means 'I'm thirsty', there were only a few wines available by the glass normally just one red, one rosé, and one white. Given that there is no wine list and that they specialize in wines that are potentially less well-known to the public, we couldn't help thinking that getting a bottle would be risky - it's not like you can ask for your favorite varietal, for example. The food wasn't bad, but if you are looking to relive a trip to Catalonia, you'll likely be disappointed. I feel for them because I get the impression that they are paying high prices for imported foods and that drives the cost, but the plates themselves aren't well-enough put together or delicious enough to have made us feel that those prices were worth it, so I would have to say that this place represents low value for money unless you don't care much about food and just want to be in a nice space.
