I gave birth in this hospital and my experience was amazing!!! All the nurses and doctors are competitive and knowledgeable, respectful and always make sure you are doing ok. Thank you is not enough to show how grateful I am with all the staff.
After having had two TKRs done three months apart this year and my husband having just been diagnosed with gallstones, I would like to thank each and every staff member at Timmins and District Hospital for their care and diligence. You are an amazing group of caregivers in our community
One of the worst hospitals that ever visited in my life. Cranky ER doctors and cranky rude staff. I lived in the south and never were patients treated so horrible. Waited 18 hours cause there are no clinics in Timmins and no doctors to help you out. Waiting list for specialist and doctors is years long and most of the doctors don't even care. Not to mention mental health is so bad here and they don't really care.
This is by far one of the worst hospitals I’ve ever had the displeasure of being in. The doctors and nurses don’t care about their patients. My mother is currently in there for a stroke, and the things I’ve seen her have to go through dealing with these people is abhorrent. She’s on a special diet due to diabetes. She can’t have bread, yet every lunch they give her a sandwich. She has to tell the nurses she can’t eat it because she’s not allowed. Yet somehow a dietician specifically hired to make sure patients get their proper meals is the one who’s giving her food she can’t even eat. She was placed in a room with another woman who is constantly yelling, blasting music, leaving her lights on all night. Meanwhile my mother can’t even sleep due to this. What do the nurses do? Try to find popcorn for this woman to keep her quiet. She’s constantly calling my mother names, yelling at her at all hours of the night, yet when my mother complained to the doctor about it, she said my mother is the one being unreasonable because “the other woman is mentally ill”. Then told my father that he has to “keep your wife under control or I’ll control her mouth”. Absolutely disgusting and unbelievable behaviour. I can’t believe this is supposed to be a place where patients are taken of and their needs met when things like this are going on and nurses and doctors are treating their patients like this.nn***Edited to add: she was still in the hospital when I wrote this review. Just barely a few days after I did, some nurse that wasn’t my moms nurse came into her room, gave her an IV she was never on, gave my mom pills that my mother tried refusing to take because they didn’t look like her meds. The nurse told her “just take your pills” after being told numerous times that they didn’t look like what my mom had been getting every day. What do you know, an hour later my mom’s actual nurse comes into and freaks out over the IV and asked what was given to my mom. The other nurse ended up switching my moms pills with another woman’s, blamed my mom by saying “she gave me the wrong name”, and when I contacted the hospital department that deals with complaints about staff or other issues, it took weeks just to be told that it was an error and oopsie daisies! They could have literally KILLED my mother. Absolutely unbelievable and of course no accountability was taken. The nurse lied through her teeth and the hospital helped cover it up. I’ve contacted patient ombudsman in Ontario and I really hope they can help me more than this hospital ever has.
It’s an excellent hospital, emergency room care needs improvement in my personal opinion but every other department & floor has been exceptional with my needs & the needs of my children over the years.
