It was our first time checking out this cute little bakery in lower town and absolutely loved it!! The food tasted fresh and the service was amazing. The lady also gave us the melt bomb things to take home for free as they were closing and didn’t want it to go waste. I highly recommend this place.
Great place for brunch! My partner and I went around 1pm and it was pretty busy so we sat outside. Workers were friendly and helpful. Food was super yummy and came out pretty quickly. The mimosa flights were great too! A good size for flights. The only little thing that happened was, they gave me the wrong choice of meat bacon instead of sausage patties but I was too hungry so I didn't bother mentioning it. This is more of a casual, self serve restaurant which I like so don't expect to be constantly checked up on.
Food is amazing and they bake everything in house, make sure to get a caramel roll or biscuits, both are great. They have different specials every day which tend to be very good in addition to a solid breakfast and lunch menu. Diner style place. You order at the counter and your food is brought to your table you seat yourself. They've added a lot more seating of late and some patio seating as well. Dietary restrictions: They have gluten free and vegetarian options and are always happy to try to accommodate.
Looking for a unique brunch spot in St Paul? This is your jam. With the menu nod to local history pig's eye this place is sweet and savory. The perfect spot!
Bit of a wait. Didn't realize it is counter service. Buttered Tin hash was fresh and tasty. The arugula was a nice touch. Breakfast burrito and Muffuletta sandwich were good choices. Tomato basil soup had a bit of a kick to it. There was ketchup smeared on the floor under my seat making it slippery. Features: No masking currently
The food was delicious...HOWEVER...it was pricey. You start off by ordering at the counter to which they add 20% to your billthere is no table service. I dine out a fair amount and although the food came quickly, was fresh and hot...I'm not sure how I feel about this surcharge.Food: 5/5
I ordered the smothered burrito. When it came to the table I knew I was in trouble. Dam!!!! Ate half and gave half to an individual without a home. Heck yeah I would go back!!! It is soooo good that the menu makes it hard to choose!
Well we came here because 2 staff members at our hotel recommended this place if you missed the breakfast. At our hotel Breakfast is served only at 6:00 A.M.- 9:00 A.M. That's it? So, we chose to walk through the park to find it, on Google Maps a customer said it wasn't crowded? Well, when we arrived it was crowded and had a long line inside but it moves quickly. As we were coming to their register we were taking pictures and there was a large window of 2 ladies staff members the one with the hat finishing up a cake, adding a flavor inside with a needle. The other lady was measuring flour then mixing by hand. I think it was the Biscuits? As we got closer you can see everything else that was made inside this restaurant. From Large Peach filled Hand pies with a flaky crust to home made Cinnamon Rolls there Biscuits were big and square and if I had 1 of them I was wondering about what kind of jam to put on them. The flavor was Cheddar Thyme great with Eggs. They had another square under the glass dome and these were Sweet Breads in 3 flavors Banana Nut, Chocolate Chip and Lemon Poppyseed. They even had a pun on home made Twinkies called The Lower town Twin-Key. In a glass case then in the bottom shelf was an assortment of frosted cup cakes I couldn't get to the sign on them. Then we both spotted the pan of Cookies instead of reading their menu. But I knew what I wanted when it was our turn my older sister said to me she was just searching for a parking spot. So, we ordered for them. I had the House Special The Buttered Tin Pancakes she and I wanted that, then we got our niece the Buttered Tin Hash and my nephew their Banana Foster French Toast and a Child's Apple Juice. They both had regular coffees and I had a Decaf Caramel Hot Latte. Well, my nephew didn't like his plate at all and wanted the pancakes instead but decided to play with his meal. My niece loved the hash it was different and I had her take a picture before eating it. She gave me this look? Then I explained I'm a Google Guide and showed her my numbers and reviews. Ohh, your poor phone. I laughed "Yep this is what I do". For my nephew I told him can we make a trade for your soft Bananas and Glazed Pecans you can have this pancake. Sure, he yelled, I cut it up for him and placed it in his plate and he was happy again. Our pancakes were light and fluffy and Hot as I cut into my 2 left pancakes and loved the side of fresh fruit and I forgot to order the BACON!!!, Because I was taking so many pictures it slipped my mind. Overall, we will be back if we come back to St Paul, Minnesota. Don't get upset that there is a long line inside it moves quickly and Thank you to the staff who helped us find a table and brought over our hot drinks to the table. For a busy restaurant it was quiet once everyone was eating. I could have traded my plate with my nephew l liked what he was destroying. My niece wouldn't cut it into pieces of the French Toast, for him she kept saying" Let him figure it out"?? Which got me mad. Yeah, when he throws more syrup across the table? You should step in? I showed him how to turn the knife down and lightly saw the toast. Instead he picked it up with his hands and chewed on it like a banana. I looked at my older sister and said next time kid pancakes for this guy. I had a lovely time here at The Buttered Tin Restaurant. Kid-friendliness: There were many families inside this restaurant. They do have a kid's menu. But we didn't use that part we ordered for my niece and her son assuming she would like what we got for him. My older sister got him the Banana French Toast and he wanted the pancakes we had. So, I shared my 1 Pancake in turn for his soft Bananas and the toasted glazed Pecans. I should have had that. I loved the taste of them.
we ordered the lavender lemon mimosas, the flavor was different and strong. the carmel roll was to die for and the iced Carmel latte was so good!! I ordered the buttered tin hash, only complaint is that the roast was kinda dry. my friend love the huevos rancheros. but she bit down on a good sized egg shell. besides that she loved the dish.
Great place to stop for breakfast or lunch. Friendly staff, and the food is always top notch - super fresh and satisfyingly delicious. Whenever I'm in St. Paul I make it a point to stop here. Plus they have some great bakery items to satisfy your sweet tooth at the end of your meal. Took home a mini key lime pie the last time I was there that my wife and I loved every bite of.
