Tried calling to the restaurant to make an advance order before stopping by at noon; got answering machine stating closed dates for Dec 2021 which is weird for a first time customer in late Oct 2022? Didn't leave a message figuring it probably won't make too much of a difference. Not going to bother with delivery services as nowadays it costs way more to use them when my temp job is one block away. Came in, server is quite prompt taking my order as soon as she took orders from customers before me which is fair. Food came in reasonable time considering it looks like one server & one cook in the establishment. I could have done takeout but like the unique ambiance of the place & wanted to try a dine in lunch experience. Lunch lamb curry was amazing, packed a delicious punch in flavor. Medium spice heat I ordered is quite up there & was close to my level limit; wondered how spicy hot is? I'm laughing mentally because my ex-boyfriend with absolute zero heat tolerance would not thrive unless the restaurant offers a zero heat option? On a serious note, if anyone has a severe lack of spicy heat tolerance, please triple check with the server upon ordering. Server was free enough to walk around with a water pitcher but never stopped by to check upon me for first taste or anything else. Did tell her when I walked to the till to get my bill to pay about compliments to the chef & my gratitude for the tasty & filling meal that was obviously made with humble TLC. The meal is a real winner, good value, & the spice did well to clear my nasal congestion & nagging post-common cold cough. Definitely will become my go to lunch spot whenever I neglect to pack a filling meal to work & will recommend for dinners too. Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options in the menu which is very easy to read & straightforward. Kid-friendliness: Food is kid-friendly as long as spice level for curry can be requested as zero heat. Meat curry doesn't have any bones so no choking hazards. Parking: Broughton Street parkade is definitely best bet with 1 hour free parking when available & free parking there after 6pm & all day Sundays. Otherwise subject to standard parking rates there and street parking. Wheelchair accessibility: Door not automated for wheelchair accessibility but chairs can be easily cleared away to make spacing & clearance for in-dining experience. Dietary restrictions: There are vegan & gluten free options in the menu. General common sense in any restaurant, in addition to alerting any food allergies, always check with the server to ensure food is prepped separately in the kitchen to prevent chances of accidental cross-contamination Safety first!
Love it, love it, love it! I have been a regular customer here for the last 5 years and came with different friends - we were never disappointed! I love pork momos - so delicious! Their meat is supplied by local island farms. All curries are cooked with cream of cashew, are gluten free an dairy free. Nice calming atmosphere. Dalai Lama’ quotes on the walls are a very nice touch. Next to a lot of parking spots - never had an issue. The staff is always friendly and attentive.
Authentic Tibetan restaurant. If you are someone like me who loves Spicy noodles, mom's, sweet Gulab Jamun and more, then give this restaurant a try. Staff is super cooperative and exemplary in service. Wait time is less too. Soothing ambience and Tibetan music that's calming. I love this place and highly recommend.
Service: impeccable and timely Menu: easy to navigate; Vegan and Vegetarian and Gluten free options available!!!! Hooray!!!! And delicious! Portions: sizeable enough that plate prices yield good value for money VERY impressed with the veggie stir-fry! Impressed with the Momos! Atmosphere in restaurant is comfortable / relaxed. If a person is dining in, the space features photography; historical and cultural information on Tibet; wrapped inTibetan decor. Our plates were flavourful, hot and steamy and enjoyable. We enjoyed visiting on a Tuesday at the lunch - hour. We will be back, and we recommend.
Great healthy comforting food, peaceful atmosphere. Loved the mixed veg curry, came with white or brown rice, lentil soup, and bread. Super fresh and yummy. Plenty of glutenfree and vegan/vegetarian options. Would love to come back if I lived closer!Food: 5/5
After a long time felt like home. Being a North- East Indian, we have very few options in Canada. So enjoyed the food a lot. On top of that, got a chance to flaunt Assamese with wonderful ladydon't want to give the name away of the restaurant . Beautiful memory.
When we just got to the restaurant, there are only a table with 2 guests there. Then the place got busy quickly. I’m not a big fan of curries but the curries here are just different and so so good, probably the best. We had pork momos, lamb and shrimp curry, all were tasty. Service is friendly but a bit slow and not very attentive. I also like the atmosphere and the decoration of the restaurant.
Soooo good! So much flavour! First time I’ve been and I’ll be back for sure!
We love love love it here! We eat here at least twice each time we come to Victoria! The food is INCREDIBLE. Seriously. You just have to try it. The flavors are amazing and the ladies that work there are so sweet. The food is made with love for sure. Highly recommend. Omg get their momos, fried rice and soup!
This place has some of the best food in Victoria. Tibetan food is like a mix between Indian and Chinese with the best flavours of them all. Executed perfectly at the Tibetan kitchen cafe. The portions are also massive, amazing value for money. Photos are of the pakoras, beef Momo's, and lamb curry. Everything is made from scratch in house.
