Amazing vibe/ atmosphere in this family owned comic book/ magic the gathering/ Warhammer store. Very busy with people playing magic on Friday night and the owner is amazing. Highly recommend if you want customized service and friendliness
Had the most amazing service from Thunder Ground, had a great time with the owner as he showed me and my buddies how to paint figures very well. Would recommend to anyone! And I would come back anytime.
The Owner is pretty rad. Both times I've gone in and have had great conversations. Definitely one of the best experiences I've had with a Local Game store.
Roy the owner is one of the most generous and gracious human beings I have ever met. A couple friends and I were just getting into Warhammer 40k a few months ago, and one of my buddies bought us all a starting unit of the faction we wanted to play from Roy’s. I guess Roy figured out that my buddy was new and offered to host an assembling/painting tutorial at his store, where we could all sit down at one of his tables for a few hours and start working on our new models. We show up on the arranged day and introduce ourselves to Roy, and he starts showing us the ropes on how to glue and paint models. He was giving us full, detailed explanations on techniques WHILE being the only one running the store. It was a blast, and we had a lot of fun trying out different colors and shades he let us each use 3 different paints for free! and I think we were there for like 8 hours. After we were done our tutorial, I asked Roy how much we owed him for the paints/brushes/glue/clippers etc. and he straight up said we didn’t owe him anything. For all that time and effort, he was just happy that we had a good time, and refused any compensation. And did I mention that he offered us free drinks during the session? Afterwards I thought I had to repay his kindness somehow, so before leaving I picked out a few more units and paints I wanted to start building my army and went to pay for them, to find that he had given us a 10% discount on all warhammer items for being part of the newbie session. I now exclusively buy my miniatures and paints/brushes from Roy, not only does he have an amazing selection of models and codex’s for all warhammer factions, but it’s all at a fair price. His store is organized and tidy, he runs tournaments and games on the weekends sometimes, and overall seems like a genuine dude. I can’t give Thunderground Comics enough praise, 10/5.
A fantastic store for all of your tabletop gaming needs, they host special events including Magic the Gathering card game nights every Friday. The owner is driendly and genuine and always so good with the kids.
Sadly I live far from this shop. A long time ago I missed out on a Games Workshop Warcry starter box that was selling out. I called around Edmonton. Some shops would not tell me the price over the phone. Except Roy, who was awesome, confirmed he had the product and the price. Also held on to the box while I drove from near Leduc to St. Albert. Playing Warcry today, still a good memory.
Roy the owner is probably the nicest guy I've ever met, super knowledgeable on all of his products, passionate about them and genuinely seems to be focused on people having fun and learning more than making as much money as possible. 10/10 I recommend anybody I know who is into MTG, Boardgames, & Comics to go here and support him.
This small store is exploding with comics, cards, Pokemon, miniature games. The owner is very knowledgeable, and will bring in anything your looking for.
It is sad to say but the owner has some serious issues with paranoia and believing people are out to ruin his store. I'm not sure if it is undiagnosed mental health issues or just a highly capricious nature, but if the owner ever believes you are "out to get him" or are "stealing customers for other businesses" then he will treat you like garbage. As long as you remain in his good books though and he never has an episode you will be fine though.
Super friendly guy. We come by almost every week to get pokemon cards for the kids. Always have a good chat with him and he seems to really enjoy involving the kids. 10/10 recommend this place.
