The Workshop Eatery

If you are looking for bold well paired meals this is not the place. If you are looking for safe comfort food the menu will satisfy. The execution did not live up to the concept. Nice elements in a lot of dishes but as a whole the dishes disappointed. The pickles were excellent but lacked overall variety. The restaurant is small, cold and loud. It is not a comfortable place to sit for several hours.

Delicious food, very friendly and courteous staff and overall a really good ambiance. Really liked the atmosphere at this place. The Hollandaise on the Benny is very different than what I have had before, but very delicious. The flavour of the butter was very pronounced. The one thing I would suggest with regards to the egg dishes is to provide some sort of serrated knife so that the bread is easier to cut (butter knife is a bit difficult). Other than that, all of our food was delicious and we will definitely be coming back.

Workshop is pretty far away from where I commonly find myself going for brunch, but the food and how busy it was told me otherwise. We made a reservation the night before which was a great idea because when we got there our table was waiting for us and it was an hour wait for people who walked up. I tried the chicken and waffles which was delicious! The chicken had great colour, an audible crunch, and amazing flavour with the combination of hot sauce and maple syrup drizzled over top. If I were to change anything, I would want a waffle that is firm on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The I received, although tasty, was too soft for my preferences. Overall, having the egg and hollandaise made for a wonderful dish. I hope to get back here soon. Hopefully to try their dinner menu!

Excellent food (best Chicken&waffle in the city!) at a pretty decent price. Coffee was good but nothing to write home about. Will definitely come back for brunch in the future. Incredible staff, too!

To everyone reviewing this restaurant highly: I wish I understood. Came here on a Sunday evening after a recommendation by Avenue magazine and other reviewers. I had high hopes, as the menu items sounded delicious and the ambiance of the restaurant was overall pleasant. My friend had the duck breast and duck sausage, and I had the pork chop. While the presentation was good and the service was friendly, the flavours were bland, the food poorly-seasoned, and the meat very dry. For $30+ a plate, it was a huge disappointment. I am giving one star for the quality of the food, which was honestly poor. (The wait-time was also around 45 minutes, though maybe that's the time they spent over-cooking my pork!) Unfortunately, many restaurants in Edmonton and area have begun to pop up that sound (and look!) high quality, but the actual flavour of the food is mediocre and frankly, sub-par in comparison with other cities and even other restaurants in Edmonton. You're likely far better off going to a family-owned or tried-and-true ethnic restaurants than to eat somewhere like this. Maybe it's a 'big fish, small pond' situation in Edmonton right now, but this is far from a good quality restaurant if you compare it to similar-priced restaurants outside of Edmonton's borders.
