Took the sewing machine essentials class today and the instructor was terrific! She explained each step in depth with lots of examples and patience. Really great environment. The staff at the front were also very helpful and friendly :
We're so lucky to have so many wonderful fabric stores in Toronto. The Workroom will always hold a special place in my heart because it's where I first started buying fabric when I was only hand-sewing small projects and it's also where I bought my very first sewing machine! It's still going strong two years later and I have just made my first quilt with it.
The first time I went into the shop, I was confused about pricing on the fat quarters and left a hasty, negative review. The owner replied quickly. She explained the situation and that I’d misunderstood the pricing phew!. I’ve been back to the shop and bought fabric, a pattern, and will also be looking at courses next spring. Really love this shop. The customer service is excellent. If you like sewing - definitely check this place out!
I think this is a great store but I was looking for more vintage or deadstock notions. Thus my 4 stars.
Excellent and cute fabric selection! I've ordered so many times during the pandemic and have been so happy with the creations I've made from their fabrics. I especially like the fun seasonal patterns which bring me so much joy.
I emailed recently with some questions about my vintage Singer machine, and got such a lovely and prompt response from Leo. Both Leo and the technician provided helpful advice and saved me so much time trying to figure things out on my own. I really appreciated how quick their response time was too--not something that is always feasible, but I had a solution in less than 24hrs.
I've been here several times and it depends on who is working IF you get service or even a greeting. After my last visit, I'd rather shop online with a different store.

Great functional website that makes it easy to order and do local pick up! They are always super quick to get orders ready. Keeping me sane with sewing projects during the pandemic.
Walked in & told them i’d just got a sewing machine & didn’t know the first thing. asked for thread. pointed me to some overpriced thread & walked away…
