Lovely restaurant in a quaint old house. Gorgeous view of the river and gourmet food. 30 minutes from downtown Ottawa and worth the trip. Parking: Parking behind the restaurant or next door when that fills up.
Such a wonderful meal! This gem in the heart of Wakefield not only has delicious food but also fantastic ambience and service. Reasonably priced for the the high quality ingredients and creativity on your plate. Would highly recommend for a date night or special occasion.
Fantastic night out. Everything we had from drinks to dessert were full of unique flavors. Good job. My taste buds are alive again. Short rib . Veg dish . Seafood app
We've been to Wakefield so many times... and only discovered this gem of a restaurant yesterday. Intimate rustic space. Great service. Their menu isn't large, but what they do is locally sourced and done very well. Make a reservation and try their dining experience. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!
What an absolute great experience. We ate outside and had a great view of the river while tasting delicious food. The service was fantastic, with our server getting to know us and giving us a great personal experience. We started with the beef tartar which was delicious, followed by the beef short rib which fell apart. We would recommend to anyone.
This is the greatest restaurant in the area. On the website they say they are an upscale comfort food restaurant and the description is spot-on. Every meal feels like a dinner at your grandparents without any compromise on the food quality. Location wise it is perfect. You can eat inside on the bar counter or at a table or you could also eat outside on the heated terrace. I suggest to eat outside because it has an amazing view of the lake. I would do the Montreal/Wakefield drive only for this food.
Impeccable service and delicious food. We had an amazing fresh salad with locally sourced produce from Juniper Farm just around the corner from Wakefield. We then had the vegan mushroom dish which was basically like fried chicken but mushroom with potatoes and some other delicious things. Sarah the owner is so lovely and friendly and always makes sure your experience is 5 star. Liam is a young and very talented chef! Best restaurant in Wakefield by far.
This restaurant has a cozy little patio with a nice waterfront view. It would be a great date night spot if you're not in a rush. I waited close to an hour for the main course57min. The appetizers and desserts aren't fantastic. The main course was very good although both the Gnocchi and Beef short ribs lacked color in presentation. Both are very brown. I had the burrata and the pig's cheek. Burrata came with a single one inch piece of bread. I asked for more, but instead was served two plain and cold pieces. The local honey & pepperoncini gastrique dressing was fantastic but extremely lacking in quantity. It barely covered the outside of the burrata. Once you cut it, all the flavour goes away and it's very flat for the taste buds. The pig's cheek felt greasy with a light taste of prosciutto. Overall, I would skip the appetizers and order the main course. The current dessert menu has two mint options and one crème brûlé. This was a let down as I'm not a fan of anything mint. As for the crème brûlé, I would expect something a bit more riveting from a 4.8 star restaurant. The service was average, and they did not apologize much for the period of wait. There were 5 groups that arrived after us, yet they were all served before the two of us. It was very frustrating watching the server bring everyone's plates before ours. Some patrons even managed to get to the dessert menu and pay before we started eating. Overall, I would go again, but have lower expectations. The main course was very good, but everything else was rather lacking
20210824: I have always been attracted by the beautiful hills & river environment of Wakefield and La Maison du Village's patio provides just the right setting for enjoying some good food & wine. Their menu offers not your run-of-the-mill pub or family restaurant foods but rather some well thought out, well designed tasty dishes. In my opinion, their price is good for the quality of food and service I was receiving. I will go back again, for sure.
Absolutely exquisite food, I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. Although it’s expensive, the price was completely worth it for the quality of the food. One of the best dinners I’ve had in the national capital region.
