It was my second time here after a couple of years. The service was good as well as the ambiance. My mother and I ordered pastas and they were delicious and cooked perfectly. My brother ordered the chicken, the only thing about the dish was that there was an incredible wine taste to the risotto. They accidentally served us be wrong soup but quickly gave us what we ordered. Otherwise would come again!
We had a delicious meal. Our waitress was very friendly but not overbearing. Classic steakhouse decor, comfortable but upscale. Would recommend this place to friends.
Having previously been to the Urban Steakhouse & Lounge, the first time wasn't the best, to say the least. Recently, me and my girlfriend decided to return and try our luck again, and the food/service was fantastic. Going through culinary school myself, I know what I'm looking for in a place like this, and it certainly delivered the 2nd time around. I actually requested to personally thank the chef, and if I'm not mistaken his name was Todd. Great talent, good food and the quality was much better from our first visit in the previous year or two.
Quality of food is average at best. Food temperature for all of our meals was at best warm. Definitely not hot. Food portion is quite small compared to what the cost is. When our complaints were brought to the attention of the owner Cindy she was quite defensive and didn’t resolve our complaint but only heightened it. We definitely won’t be returning to the Urban, nor will we be recommending this restaurant. Lots of other dining options in Fonthill. Save your time and money!
I originally wanted to put 2 stars. The only reason I am giving this review 3 stars is because the food and atmosphere were excellent. The service was disappointing. I have been in this industry and customer service is always the top priority. We went to dinner last night and the woman who came to seat us was grumpy and rolled her eyes when we walked in because she was having her own side conversation. She wasnt inviting or welcoming. Our waitress was kind and friendly as first however was very fast to always rush away from our table. We ordered a soup and salad to start which arrived quickly and was delicious. Our main meal was also warm, delicious and surprising with flavor. My husband enjoyed his pasta with the loads of sea food. Once we received the bill and had paid also gave quite a nice tip the woman took the debit machine, didnt say thank you or have a good night and walked off after putting my copy of the receipt down. When we left we walked by our server along with the woman who seated us and neither said good bye or have a nice night or see you again. As I said previously this was extremely disappointing as I believe customer service should be a huge priority for restaurants who actually want returning customers. Even though the food was delicious and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming no tvs, great live music etc we may not return because of such crappy service.
I ordered the strip loin and the steak was very thin and tough and the baked potato was is greyish in colour, slightly hard and nothing was very hot. My friend and I came in without a reservation and I felt rushed. It was Saturday at 5:30 and I appreciate that they gave us a table but had I known I would’ve been rushed I wouldn’t of stayed. I don’t know if I go back again. My Husband and I used to go there quite often but I hadn’t been in a while
Ok let’s get the review started.... wine selection needs a radical overhaul.... they are in the heart of one of the best wine regions in Ontario, on the bench and not one winery was chosen. Cab frank.... ever heard of that award winning wines in Ontario, seems they have Argentina Chilie and even New Zealand over ONTARIO. Sham sham sham. Prices are outrageous for what they are delivering, .... tried to not order potatoes and rather have mushrooms as a replacement and they demand a surcharge... guess what, you never know who serve... word of mouth is important and they will not be reviving a recommendation. The decor is so poorly done, garage door chic is not a steakhouse/ seafood house look.... just serve wings and I am sure the business would be booking. Can’t wait for better restaurants to arrive in foothill...please note the keg is 10 min drive away, go there for a less disappointed experience.
Food was good, but were out of many of their steaks and one side dish and yhe bottle of eine we wanted!!! even on a dead night with only 3 other tables in the diningroom. I was going to try the tomahawk. As a First time it was a disappointment. Our Server while embarassed, was very good. Atmosphere was good for a couples night, and we made the best of it.
We had reservations at the urban today and booked a month in advance for a group of 20, This was for our grandmothers 85th birthday, We had arrived at 6:05pm, We ordered apps and meals at 6:30pm, the appetizers arrived at around 7:00pm. At 7:45 I had to ask the manager where our meals were. We also had to ask a server where our meals were in which she replied " Why are you in a hurry". I found that objecting, As it was a 85th birthday, and we had to be at a cancer benefit for 9pm. At 8:15 our meals finally came out and our grandmother was the last to get served in which she was very upset and crying. I was amazed that other people around us that came in a hour after us had already been eating their main course. There was no discounts offered all they did was give our grandmother a free birthday cake. Needless to say it was a horrible experience, Understaffed, Unprofessional, Non- apologetic , If i could give a 0 star I would expect the food was half decent. If you ever plan to go in big groups be prepared for a long wait even with advanced notice. Unless they make some changes. Our whole group will Never go back again!
Ok local restaurant. I've been there twice and the food was good each time. Not amazing run home and tell your neighbors, but good none the less. Nice atmosphere. Dark and cozy with a larger room on the side. A nice place to go for a dinner and a martini.
