Story

It can be described as a restaurant, coffee shop, a boutique and even
art gallery, but The Truffle House & Café is truly a warm place to eat European
cuisine at a very reasonable price. Philippe & Fabienne Chaber have created a cozy and comfortable atmosphere and offer a delicious combination of French,
Italian and West Coast specialties that your taste buds will love.

Fabienne was taught the art of gastronomy in France by Michelin Star chefs
Michel Mico and Jean Sulpice. With Philippe, they managed one of the biggest gastronomy and entertainment resorts of the French Riviera (Cap d'Antibes),
La Maison des Pêcheurs.
Part of their mission is to "democratize" the truffle – to allow people to add truffle,
truffle butter, truffle oil, or truffle sauce to their meals at reasonable prices.

A most wonderful experience from start to finish. We were warmly welcomed with a wonderful wood fire then while we listened to a very informative history of truffles in Australia and overseas enjoyed a warm soup. Then out with Dora and Forest to see if we could find the truffles on the farm. Plenty of opportunity to ask questions and have the chance to dig the truffle out of the ground. Back to the beautifully renovate cow shed for a wonderful 3 course meal with an over abundance of truffles. Of course a little bag full of goodies has come home to extend our experience. Thanks Noel and Team. Totally recommended.
Fabulous experience. Warm welcome on a bitterly cold winter day. Lovely setting with fire place; fascinating history on truffle hunting &, importantly, great tips on how to use truffles. Then out to the paddock to see the dogs at work Dora & Forest and watch, and then experience, digging up a truffle well around a dozen for our group. Back into the warmth for a 3 course lunch with wine or hot drink. Noel Fitzpatrick knows his stuff and is very happy to chat and answer questions. Frankly, I had no idea what the day entailed my wife booked it but it was very entertaining and informative and fun. Absolutely would go again.
Highly recommended to those eager to taste an array of truffle delights. Experience a little history and the process on farming and harvesting truffle. The Truffle House was an exceptional day out. With panoramic views of the Gippsland region, the warmth and comfort of a fire place always brightens a winters day. A little fun and interesting history, followed by the experience of harvesting truffles. Plenty of delicious food to indulge in to experience the unique taste of truffle. Noel and his staff/family were welcoming from start to finish.
Fantastic day out. 100% worth the price for the truffle hunting experience. We started the day with some very welcome hot soup by the fire while we learnt about the history of truffles and their cultivation. Then we spent 45 minutes outside with the truffle dogs seeing how they are harvested and even digging out a few ourselves. The rest of the afternoon was spent in the cosy cottage space enjoying a beautifully prepared lunch containing probably more truffle than any one person should consume in a day. Came home with a little of the truffle we had harvested to experiment with in the kitchen. Highly recommended experience.
Having had no idea what i was in for at the truffle house i left with nothing short of an amazing afternoon never to be forgotten. I was educated on the history of truffles and had an opportunity to harvest a few truffles on the day. I experienced the unique taste only truffles can give from a five course meal put together from the team at The truffle house. The team at The Truffle House where nothing short of polite and professional. Get a group together and enjoy an amazing afternoon at The Truffle House. *****
A fantastic day out. The best possible combination of interesting information, new outdoor experience, good company and a warming fire with great food and a touch of luxury - the glorious truffle, fresh from the ground. Greatly enjoyed watching Dora the Australian Shepherd in action, diligently searching for and finding ripe truffles. Thank you Noel, Matt and Sue for your informative discussion and deep thanks to the ladies who quietly whipped up truffle taste sensations in the kitchen - delicious.

Fantastic day with family. Rustic setting with delicious food included in truffle hunt. Actually found and dug up truffles with the help of Dora the truffle fog and her sidekick in training, Trixie, absolutely gorgeous girls. I would highly recommend.
Outstanding afternoon. My son and I went last year and loved it so much we went again this season! Learnt lots and experienced some great food on the day. Thoroughly recommended!
