Prime rib was outstanding, the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. They still had the Christmas decorations up and it was like having dinner in a Macy's window display. I talked with the owner and they heavily decorate for all occasions. The hotel was truly like stepping back in time. Looking forward to my next visit. I think a great weekend, would be booking a few rooms with friends. Have some drinks at the bar, saunter over the restaurant have a lovely dinner and wine. Next morning they offer a fantastic breakfast. Enough said, go and enjoy.
We decided to visit the Thayer for date night and were pleasantly surprised by how great the restaurant was. Our waiter was knowledgeable, cocktails were refreshing, food was unique and very tasty and as we left, four different staff thanked us for coming. Plus the food was very reasonably priced for the ambiance and quality of menu. We love a unique small town eatery and will definitely recommend this to our friends and family.
Came for breakfast this morning. I was surprised to see how quiet it was. I would have guessed, with it being such a historic building, it would be busier. As we were leaving, we noticed church was still in session, so I'm assuming it probably got busy when church got out. It was nice though to sit and have a nice, quiet breakfast. The food was great. They were accommodating when I asked for substitutes. The food came out super fast. Our waitress was sweet and attentive. All around, it was a great experience.
This was mine and my husband's first time there. We went there for our anniversary supper cause I heard the food was good. The service and staff were very nice. Even though they were very busy u never felt like u were forgotten about. Server and owner check on us and I also noticed they checked on other guests as well throughout. Food we ordered was VERY good. Will be going back. If anyone is in the area I recommend stopping by. Food & drinks: Food was VERY good
We went there for date night. I love the atmosphere so welcoming and homey. The patio is so cute. The service is geuine and very attentive. The food was great. I love their menu has interesting flavors to pick from. My food was so good and was not a long wait for it. Good portions on everything. Will def be going there again. #honestyhappens Food & drinks: Sohpisticated menu, not fried foods. Noteworthy details: Chandeliers, string quartet music, romantic homey atmosphere
Only went there to pick up food, never stayed there. The place is breathtaking inside. Restraunt area is nice larger area , with a small bar area to sit at as well. The only thing I can see is the doors are not very wide to get threw, so people with a bigger wheelchair can't get inside to eat. Walkability: There is a gas station nearby, a dollar general , a few bars that offer pool and also a small bowling alley up the road. There is a lake up the road a few blocks that has a dock, boat launch and beach.
Adored the place. We arrived at night and the front of the hotel and the outside eating area were lit up beautifully with fairy lights and lamps. Great for pictures. We stayed in Gus' Room and it was so cute! Staff was friendly and helpful and the food was lovely. Not as haunted as I hoped though, but maybe that's because we didn't get the most haunted room. Definitely going back someday. It's a small town so don't expect to really find a lot to do.
Best crab cakes I've ever had presented on a fish shaped plate. Atmosphere was perfect for a good long visit with friends. The waiter was incredibly patient and accommodating. You pay for the ambience here. The cost of two crab cakes and a glass of wine would have bought me a large plate of food elsewhere - but not a quiet corner.Rooms: 5/5
I didn't stay in a room. But my group ate and it a great meal for the time of night we sat down. The menu was large enough for anyone to find something.Service: 5/5
Came to the Thayer in interest of the paranormal activity said to take place here. I had dinner which was very good, and the atmosphere/rooms are very well decorated. They have ghost tours which explain alot about the history of the place, which is neat. Over all I found this historic hotel to be more than I expected. 5 stars imoRooms: 4/5
