Have been here a handful times and have loved it each time! The owners are so kind, and thoroughly make sure you're happy with what you receive. The wait time is never too long, and their food is always so good. As they are a family run business you can tell a lot of effort goes in to what they do, and they always go the extra mile. If you haven't tried their tarts yet, just know that's a must the raspberry peach and apple tarts are personally my favorites! Raspberry peach seen in the photo below. Next time you're in Apsley, I would definitely recommend making a trip out to the Swiss Bear :
This place will add to the enjoyment of your stay in the area! It's a great spot with enough parking even for those that are hauling a trailer/boat. The food is delicious and the staff are very friendly. I got the big bear polish sandwich and it was delicious. Stop on your way to the cottage or order dinner to go.
Delicious food; friendly staff... Seems like a family business. Since the beginning of covid, they only have the express a.k.a takeout option. There are picnic tables outside & plenty of parking spots. Unfortunately there is no washroom since there is no dine-in
Service with a friendly smile regardless of how run off her feet she was on a busy Saturday late afternoon. Parking lot was full which is a testament to this family run food truck. Our first visit after reading a recommendation was not a disappointment!. We both had the Schnitzel Parisienne dinner. Portions were more than enough. We ate it all because it was so delicious!. Very reasonable pricing. The very yummy blueberry tart we shared was a meal in itself. We will definitely return to try other menu options.
Very unique schnitzel meal and sandwich options. I have tried the Canadian with stewed apples and polish sandwich with sauerkraut and pickled onions and both were great. On top of that, their butter tarts and fruit tarts are really outstanding. This is a fantastic place to stop on the highway. I hope the restaurant portion reopens soon, but the express stand is doing a great job in the mean time.
If you are going to the cottage in this area definitely make an effort to stop here. Best schnitzel I’ve tried. Also I highly recommend the homemade ice tea and lemonade. We also ordered half a dozen tarts. I wish we ordered a dozen. They are soooooo good. Service was pleasant and cheerful. Thank you
I have been driving past this place for two years, and never stopped. Once again heading to Bancroft. I was thinking I might try it. Beautiful day today, no shortage of cars in the parking lot. So I made a U-turn and went back. Glad I did. Had a big bear, polish style. And fries and gravy. Couldn't finish it. And I'm a big eater. Well priced, friendly people. I will be stopping here every time I go up Hwy 28. Thanks for a great experience. Parking: Can't say now, was my first time.
Absolutely amazing! Still in the parking lot and had to make a review. Thank you so much for the delicious food, kindness and excellent service. The polish schnitzel burger was AMAZING!
Service, food, building, and overall experience are 5 stars. Highly recommend a stop here. The portion size is large and reflected in the menu, but we'll worth it as the schnitzel and accompanying sides are delicious. Service was consistent and appropriate, waitress was warm and patient, willing to help us with our first visit. The complimentary tarts on a first visit are superbly served and provide a delicious conclusion to the meal. Dont forget to buy a tart for the drive home.
Was told I couldn’t drink the water in my reusable bottle on their patio, but my kids still could still drink theirs? This was after I spent $60+ on lunch. Guess they wanted an extra $5 from me for their bottled store bought water? Food was ok…a little greasy, nothing special. Won’t be back due to their ridiculous water policy.
