Great selection of stuff but a little expensive. There staff is polite and friendly. If you’re here for their ice creams you should try their butter pecan / caramel and turtle. They are super delicious. The waffle cone alone costs $2.49
2022 July 3.5 You've probably seen one if not many of their billboards along the highway to Tobermory. This is the place alright. With that much advertising, the small town, this is certainly a place to stop by. Even just for the heck of it. Lots of varieties of candies which is nice. Most are pre packaged and made by other companies. Things that you may not have had in a while. Certainly nostalgic in a way. They do have some items made in house such as the fudge and some chocolates. They serve coffee and ice cream. Though can't comment on that. Fun to stop by just to check out. Standing bar tables outside make it nice to enjoy your treat.
Awesome candy store which also serves coffee as the small shop next to it has closed; perhaps temporarily? Huge variety of candies and a great assortment of their own chocolate products. Purchased their mint chocolate bark… tasty chocolate! My husband and I treated ourselves to 2 small chocolate bark packages, 2 lollipops, 2 Fun-Dips, a small box of Swedish red fishes, and 1 roll of Bottle Caps and it came to just about $50!! PARENTS BEWARE of bringing in younger children who have no concept of money and what expensive looks like. We saw many parents trying to say no to a $10 chocolate bar without sounding like scrooge…
While driving down to Tobermory, seeing their interesting billboards alongside the roads definitely set the scene for us in terms of expectations. We visited the store after our lovely cruise to Flower Pot island. To sum it up, this store is a candy heaven for anyone with a sweet tooth. I was blown away by the variety in this store and how big it was. They have candy, chocolate, flavoured popcorn, coffee, ice cream, their own merchandise, and so much more. We had their ice cream and loved browsing through the store. There are other gelato places around in the area but this one takes the cake in terms of the sweet categories they have. All in all, a visit to this store is a must if you're visiting Tobermory. PSA - when entering with kids, be ready to spend more than you planned to.
Visited this spot during my time in Tobermory as it was super hot and I was craving ice cream. They offer a wide section of sweets and a large variety of ice cream flavours. I got the strawberries & cream 2/5 and the NSA chocolate coffee 4/5. The strawberries & cream was a bit artificial and too sweet for me but still had a creamy texture while the NSA chocolate coffee had a strong flavour. There isn’t too much of a difference between the scoop sizes kids/single kids is just slightly smaller but you can barely even tell so just go with kids size and save yourself $1. The prices are quite high as it is in a touristy area and 3 cones 2 singles & 1 kid + 3 waffle cones were about $22. It is also a confusing process to get your cone and proceed to pay as there is no guidelines.
Lovely shop to buy ice cream and packaged desserts if you want to take back home. Due to the pandemic, they had a smart queuing system where you can see the flavours and prices by walking by the ice cream display and then ordering, paying and they would bring your ice cream to a window. I ordered the salty caramel in a waffle cone and it was superb. My wife and I finished it in less than 10 minutes. Great portion sizes and quality.
They have a wide variety of ice cream and chocolates.. Due to the pandemic, they had a smart queuing system where you can see the flavours and prices by walking by the ice cream display and then ordering, paying and they would bring your ice cream to a window. We want to try chocolate.. but it was sold out so we ordered the cookie dough it was super tasty .. Great portion sizes and quality.
The ice cream is good but nothing special. It is not worth the price and there's only a few places to sit outside with your treat.
We ordered Apple pie’s ice cream and Cookie cream ice cream. It was delicious. The lady was very nice. Inside store it seemed like it’s little empty, there were some original chocolates, snacks and candies, but looked not the same as normal summer time. Probably because of Covid-19. We will come back again next summer.
The Sweet Shop has been a childhood favourite as we've spent the summers in Tobermory. Coming back here always brings me great joy. They have the friendliest staff, especially given the growing number of tourists visiting every year. They have a wide selection of parlour ice creams. Beyond the delicious ice cream they make many other sweet treats in house, like fudge and specialisty chocolate and candy. If you're in Tobermory you have to check out The Sweet Shop!
