What an amazing experience! I enjoyed my lunch a lot and I fell in love with this little restaurant. I've been looking for a place like this for a while in Barrie area and even though it a bit of a drive it's worth it 100%! Great atmosphere, great service, very friendly and professional stuff, amazing food!!!, beautiful presentation, very professional chefs knowing their craft! It checks all the boxes I will definitely be a regular here. After having a multiple terrible experiences with other sushi restaurants in the area this bring me so much joy and happiness I want to live and eat out again! Thank you The Sushi Chef!
This place was highly recommended to me by two friends that go very often and get takeout. Definitely glad I took the time and went when I was in the area. Some restaurants set them selves apart from others by the little things and Sushi Chef did just that. Stainless Steel chopsticks, even a bench to rest the chopsticks on. Clean restaurant and nice atmosphere. As is with all non AYCE places, the rolls were big but so was the shrimp tempura. By far the best shrimp tempura I’ve ever had. Spicy salmon roll was good, white tuna dragon roll was great. It’s not often where you order only two rolls and it comes out on the sushi boat, but that’s bonus points for presentation. The only knock on The Sushi Chef, comes from the sushi pizza. It was topped with Crab, Salmon and avocado. However the crab wasn’t very good. Simple is more, would have been perfect with just the salmon and avocado. Presentation for the sushi pizza was also a little awkward. Would be better to serve it on a smaller plate for it to stand out more. All in all, incredible place and I’ll definitely go again.
We just moved from downtown Toronto and we were nervous we wouldn't be able to find good sushi. OH MY WERE WE WRONG. Sushi chef is absolutely amazing! Everything is made with quality and freshness. We have gotten it numerous times now and everytime there's a happy dance. Thank you Sushi Chef!! Vegetarian options: Lots of options
Incredible food and staff are very friendly. The kimchi is homemade and so flavourful. The portions and size of the sushi are huge! Everything tasted super fresh. Will definitely be returning.
I’ve been to 20+ sushi places all around the GTA & surrounding area and sushi chef is by FAR the best quality sushi you can get. The size of the rolls are huge and each roll absolutely bursts in your mouth with fresh flavours. Take out or dine in is top notch quality. I love the sushi chef! Been going for years and I honestly won't eat from another sushi place as nothing compares to it. My favorite sushi from them is the white dragon and the volcano! The volcano is a spicy deep fried sushi! AMAZING best restaurant ever!
Incredible flavour, variety and value. I was amazed at the size of the sushi, I’d say one roll is the size of 2 at other places I’ve been. Will definitely be back.
My partner and I were in the area and found this place so decided we would try it out. Everything from the ambiance to the food and service quality was amazing. Our edamame and miso soup starters were delicious, and our rolls were so fresh!! We will definitely be coming back to this place even though it is no where near where we live. Thank you to the very kind waitress' and chefs. Such a great experience.
Food is good. The service is very good. We come here every week for take outs. Love their pork katsu. Only thing is I want more portion of the rice. But nevertheless the food is amazing. Thank you guys.Food: 4/5
We decided on a sushi meal post-hike and came across this hidden spot. They currently don’t offer dine-in service but after ordering, we were in and out within 5~ minutes. Friendly service and decent prices. It’s rare to see lunch specials until 4pm. Ordered the Sushi Lunch B and Sashimi Lunch to share. Overall the fish was really fresh and the accompanied sides tasted good. I will say that the sushi was very slim size of a finger and the maki rolls have a thicker amount of rice. Still a spot I will revisit when I visit Barrie again.
