Nice place. Food was good. I'd get the honey chicken with mac n cheese side again. Also the brussel sprouts app was good as well. But would pass on the ribs. Service was friendly and quick.
Literally the best BBQ in Markham-Stouffville. Brisket is smokey, tender, but not "disintegrating", which is the way I like it. Best menu item is the fried chicken. Drenched in "hot honey", it is dangerously addictive, and gluten-free to boot. Great local joint that supports local breweries. Pivoted successfully to take-out and family meals during the pandemic, and offers great, cooked-from-scratch comfort meals. If you patron, order directly and pick up to ensure maximum freshness.
Ordered the Dad Bod Father’s day platter - presentation was a bit lacking maybe shouldve used a smaller container so it didnt look so bare?. The sauces were tasty bbq and salsa verde. My fav was the porchetta crackling . The coleslaw was a bit too sour. The cornbread was yummy! The brisket and wings were good. Everything was cold though, though to be expected for take out. Pricey but likely on par with other comparable restaurants.
Been eating at The Smokery for some time now. The friendly servers and great seasonal menu keeps me coming back! Not to mention this is the ONLY place in GTA to enjoy a properly made classic cocktail as the owner Chris has a real passion and knowledge in mixology. Weather you want to sit at the bar and enjoy a nice craft beer or bring the family in for a family dinner The Smokery will fit your needs. The comfy atmosphere and decor compliments the menu very well. Can't wait to visit the restaurant soon for the new fall menu!
Nice, quaint place, with a semi-romantic atmosphere. Service was very great, and waitresses were always nice. Our appetizer, roasted bone marrow was delicious! The entrees... Not so much. The brisket was very dry, with absolutely no coffee taste or aroma the mashed potatoes on the side were pretty good though. Likewise, lamb shoulder tortillas had very little lamb taste, though it was still okay. Their menu changes seasonally, and their prices are pretty expensive for the portion sizes.
Happened in on a thursday night. Had a great conversation with the owner and enjoyed a fantastic meal. The veal cheek melted it was so tender and well seasoned, while the deep fried honey chicken was crisp, sweet and delicious. If you're passing through and hungry. You need to stop here.
Modern atmosphere, excellent service. Order a customize combo lunch which comprise of 1/2 rack of ribs, a honey fried chicken thigh perfectly crispy skin and just the right amount of sweetness, meat is juicy and well seasoned whch is their signature dish, slices of coffee coated brisket, corn bread, cole slaw, pickles, and the bake beans which taste out of this world, that the owner graciously put together as its not on the lunch menu. The ribs have a good char and taste good. The brisket is melt in yourmouth but need slghtly more seasoning or bbq sauce. I am looking forward to my next visit. The combo and the house special ice green tea comes with tax to $36. Very reasonable price.
Nice restaurant decor, easy online ordering system. But the "smoked" brisket isn't really smoked. Liquid smoke maybe, but definitely not done in a smoker except maybe for a few minutes. How do I know? A the restaurant does not smell like a bbq joint inside or outside. B No smoke ring on the meat and the fat is not broken down as if it were smoked. C I am a former competition bbq participant.
This restaurant deserves the title of a Smokery & Bar. The brisket was so tender and they also have a great selection of whiskeys.
The service and food at The Smokery are both amazing. The portions are large and the fries are well seasoned. Their homemade Ice Tea was also very good.
