If you love dive bars like I do, this is the place for you. Fun staff, pool, keno and they have live music 1-2 times a month. You can get bbq that is smoked on site. We had the brisket sandwich and ribs. Both were great. Be advised that you pay for the food separately from drinks and they are both cash only.
Best BBQ in Ypsilanti hands down. It's real BBQ with real smoke. I recommend everyone stop by and give em a try, the Brisket is beyond delicious. They are Cash Only, however there is an ATM on site.
This place gets 5 stars because of the outstanding BBQ that's been smoked in that luxury smoker outside in front of the bar. When I saw the smoker outside the bar I became very curious. I thought anyone with a smoker like that cooking on site is probably serving some good BBQ. So, I did some research hmmm! The regal beagle has new ownership, come on and stop by for a drink and some great food by Matteo BBQ!!!!!!!! wait did it Just say Matteo barbecue. The former westside BBQ pitmaster omg!! So, I looked at the menu then I saw ribs, brisket, dirty rice, pulled pork and chicken. Sounds good so far. Then I saw the one item I knew was going to seal the deal, cheesy potatoes. I knew right then it was the westside BBQ in Ypsilanti. The next day around 6:30 walked into the bar and the very friendly bartender said how can I help you? I said I'm here for some BBQ and she pointed me to the back and said” yep! Mateo is hear”. I ordered a brisket meal and a pulled pork meal. Both came with a side choice of cheesy potatoes, dirty rice and coleslaw. I chose the potatoes of course. You can also get sandwiches if you don’t want the meal. When I took my first bite of brisket I knew this was the one. It brought back so many good memories. The brisket was juicy, nice smoke not overpowering and the bark was so tasty and flavorful. If you want a taste of some real Texas bbq you gotta stop at the regal beagle and give them a try.
To keep it short and simple, this place has the best BBQ that we've ever had. I've never had brisket like it's served here before, and dear lord I could eat those cheesy potatoes everyday and never complain. HEFTY portions as well, kudos to you if you can finish it all in one go. It's a great place for a drink, too, service is great and the atmosphere is fun. We're hoping to catch a live show sometime here, too, we've heard those are a blast as well. As an FYI the bar and food is all cash only and make sure to follow their Facebook page to see the menu for the day usually posted in the afternoon before they open. Looking forward to more great food and fun here.
The dive bar of my dreams. And the BBQ is beyond amazing. The people running the place are so nice and welcoming. Great place for a show or a bite to eat.
GREAT LOCAL SPOT! The bartenders are great. Prices are awesome. Atmosphere is fun and a mix of dive bar and throw-back concert venue.
First experience I had the brisket it was dry but you know maybe I could have had a bad piece. But I talked to the cooks and they told me give them another chance. I’m glad I did. Second experience I got the ribs they were out of brisket :/ but that’s my fault for not calling in. Ribs were moist,tender, bark on point and flavorful. Cheesy potato’s always slap and the homemade slaw was so crunchy. Thanks The Regal Beagle, y’all are really the best in washtenaw county. No pics because I ate it too fast.
I have really come to love and adore this place over the past several months. I always have a pleasant time interacting with both the staff and the patrons, and the shows here are a blast. Arcade machine is pretty cool too. Has quickly become my new local spot.
Amazing space. Food and service exceptional. The live music experience was intimate and lively. Truly a comfortable place to stop in for lunch or go to a show to with friends. Will definitely be coming back!
