Cool college Town bar with a fun atmosphere. Floors were a little sticky, but rather some cool cocktails in "fishbowls". Staff friendly and bathroom was surprisingly clean.
Congratulations....my 1st review ever! 2 bartenders....6 customers, and my wife and I stand there waiting for a drink. You both keep chit chatting with your buddies and disregard everyone else. I do believe you're getting paid to do a job. I'd get fired from my job for performance like that. You need a little old school customer service training. $500 in my pocket, with plans of spending it all there as we had friends coming. I'm glad you only got $4 from me.
The Red Jug in Cortland is a staple for the college bar scene. During the night hours it's always packed. Live music, good drink specials including their mug group. As well as decent service. Even draws a decent crowd in the summer months.
Cute college bar, TouchTunes to play your fave songs! The devil bowl was a fun add to our group outing! Adorable T-shirt’s to win when you finish it!
Went here for their famous t-shirt fish bowls. Did not disappoint!!
The Bar fails to follow proper protocols. They should fire their current bouncer. Does not properly scan IDs upon entry into the bar, denying service to those who are older than 21. This establishment does not treat customers fairly. I would stay far away and recommend the owner hires a new bouncer that is competent at the job.
I recently moved from CT to Upstate, NY for a job and went to Red Jug for the first time last week with friends. They had a great happy hour, and a very kind gentleman that worked there offered us pizza and wings which were delicious. However, my experience last night was a complete 180. The bouncer was EXTREMELY disrespectful. I handed him my license from CT, and he barely glanced at it. He accused me of having a fake ID and told my friends and I to leave immediately. I asked him why he thought it was fake and explained I just moved to the area which is why I have an out of state ID. He rudely stated that he wasn’t obligated to give me any explanation. I told him I could show him a picture of my work contract proving I just moved to the area for my job. In addition, I told him I could show him a picture of my passport and birth certificate. I live 45 minutes away in Liverpool, but my boyfriend sent me pictures of these documents. The bouncer got even more aggressive and said none of these options would suffice. He then proceeded to threaten us by saying he would call the cops on us. We said please do because it would prove that my license was valid and NOT fake. The bouncer refused to give me any explanation of his reasoning and wouldn’t even scan my ID. He had no reason to believe that my license was fake except for the fact that I was a person of color. It’s upsetting how one individual can turn a great experience into a completely negative and upsetting time. I love supporting local businesses and always believed in second chances, but it’s hard to justify returning to Red Jug when I was singled out for no reason. I would not recommend coming here. There are many other bars downtown in Cortland that are a lot more welcoming and you won’t be judged based on your appearance.
So much fun. The bartender was a riot. Celebrated a 21st Birthday. Was quiet at 9 but booming at 11. Had a blast. Will definitely go back.
If you're not into dancing and just like going to bars where you just hang out and drink, this is probably the best bar for that especially for the college students. When I went to school up there I always went there either first or second because there are other bars that have dancing which I liked doing. It can get pretty packed on the weekends but still a good bar
I did a t-shirt challenge here, I drank 4 vodka lemonades and got my choice of a t-shirt on the wall. It was roughly 30 bucks to do the challenge, so I doubt it was much of a deal. The drinks were delicious and the service was good. I went on a Saturday around St. Paddys Day so there was a live Celtic band there. It got pretty crowded for a weekend with no college students in town and the music was too loud to really have a conversation. I believe there was a pool table near the entrance and they had a bouncer to make sure everyone was of age.
