The word 'parlour' has been used to describe a number of different reception rooms and public spaces through out history. The word itself is derived from the French word 'parler', which means 'to speak', and thus parlour was originally used to describe a place set aside for conversation. It has also been used as a marker for social status, the best room in the home displaying the family’s best furnishings, works of art, etc. The parlour in one’s home was traditionally used for social gatherings and important family occasions, and in many cases, for an owner to conduct his or her business. The word today continues to be used to describe a shop or business providing specified goods or services, such as a 'Pizza Parlour', 'Ice Cream Parlour', 'Beauty Parlour', etc.
At the Parlour we leverage these definitions in our overall concept - 'a desirable establishment that is part of the local community where people will want to gather, socialize and celebrate'.
Owners Paul Rivas, Chris Holland and Sean W. Holland welcome you to their home, boding great food and celebration.
