The Palace Cafe

I'm saddened to leave a 1 star rating. This used to be my favorite place for breakfast. Locally owned, family atmosphere, friendly, quick service. Those were all the things I did love about it. The last few times I've been there, service has been mediocre at best. I've continued to go back because the food was good. Well, that was not the case this last time I was there. The service was extremely poor. We sat and waited over 10 minutes before getting to order, after getting our beverages. There was a large group that came in after us, ordered, ate, and left before us. I had to take my toddler for a walk while waiting for our food. We walked to the end of the street and back, and still had to wait for the food. When we got our food, my husband's food was cold, mine was warm (but that could be because I take care of getting the kids situated first), and I had asked for a small pancake for my toddler, and got one of your huge ones. My daughter wanted a sausage patty with her meal and did not get one. Our waitress checked on us one time, at the end of our visit. I am sad to say that I will not be back.1

My husband and I were in town to take our son out for brunch. We were greeted with a very warm welcome by the staff as we entered. Elizabeth was our server and briefly explained the murals that adorn the walls , taught us some history of Hillsdale, and suggested some points of interest. She extended an enormous level of hospitality and generosity to us that made us feel genuinely welcomed. The menu is simple and the food items we ordered were served pronptly and hot Our meal was delicious, comforting and prepared perfectly to our specification. Thank you Palace for the great experience!

Great service. Fast on refills and very friendly staff. Food is amazing. Served fast and hot. Family friendly. Awesome architecture in building.

The staff is very friendly but unfortunately the food quality has declined in taste and portions.

Used to be great. Now...poor poor service. On Nov 12 we waited 45 minutes for 2 eggs and a pancake . Left. Very disappointed. What happened to the good service? The good staff is gone.
