This establishment is acceptable on nights when the building has under 30% capacity, any other nights ie weekends or large events The Outpost is generally understaffed and over charge especially taking into the fact that it is a student bar, drinks are usually low quality and customers will spend 45 minutes to an hour In line to get beverages.
The Campus Outpost hosted and catered a national conference with us this past weekend. Not only was the food delicious and the portions huge, their newly renovated space looks great. I highly recommend the outpost's breakfasts to anyone hosting a conference at Lakehead - their eggs, bacon, sausage, tater tots, fruit, pastries, yogurt etc. etc. were delicious, and they took good care of our conference attendees who had allergies.
Ordered the Greek salad. First thoughts: could use a pepper... Possibly even a cucumber. Here's the thing: if you're going to serve a Greek salad don't drench the thing in Italian Vinigerette. My mouth is just so waxy. Beer was cheap 4 stars.
Ugh, I ate at the Outpost for the second time in 2 weeks. I would have rather eaten at the Aramark cafeteria, but unfortunately it's closed for renovations. The first time I had to hunt down someone who would take my order, I was tempted to go behind the deserted bar and help myself since there was no one working. Eventually a server showed up. I ordered a hamburger and salad. The food took forever to arrive. The burger was charred on the outside and underdone in the middle. The salad was from a bag. The salad was ridiculously tiny, and some of the leaves were black and moldy. I felt for $11 this delivered piss poor quality. I would have complained to the server but she was long gone, again. Once again I was forced to eat at the Outpost today. I would have been better off eatting from the vending machines in the basement. Today's special was roasted vegetable grilled cheese. You'd think that if the special was a grilled cheese, you'd get a grilled cheese, right? Instead I got a stinky goat cheese and mozzarella sandwich that I couldn't eat. When I complained to the chef, she gave me a lot of attitude. I explained that I was expecting a grilled cheese sandwich - I explained that I couldn't eat goat cheese. She didn't offer to make me something else. Luckily I ordered a side order of onion rings, so I didn't starve. But $11 for a side order of onion rings is ridiculous. The food took forever to arrive. The server, who was sitting at a table with her friends, lied - she said I'd get the food within 5 minutes. The tables were disgusting. I picked the cleanest table I could find. It was smeared with greasy handprints and covered in crumbs. I was so grossed out that I called the Health Unit to complain. The Outpost has horrible service and overpriced food. It definitely doesn't cater to students on a budget. TWO THUMBS DOWN.
I come here very often. If you're a cost cutting student the best way to come here on a budget is the special nights. Whether it's 50 cent wings o 3.50 tankard Tuesdays.
Shite, just shite this year. Bar staff don't pay attention to who got there first. Serve in apparently random order. They served the people to the left and right of me 3 times over before I finally asked for service. The dude then gets an attitude with me as if I barged up to the front and demanded beer. I had been there 20 minutes.
Food is greasy and prices continuously go up... 12$ for chicken fingers that are not very good, and fries that are not even crispy. Imagine McCain SuperFries... but worse.
This place has a lot of potential for revenue.
The worst bar in Thunder Bay, by far. 5 bouncers can't take care of 2 drunk women. Sad!
Love this bar. Most days. Lines can be long and hard to get a drink
