I went to the Opera House for the first time to see Joel Sunny at the beginning of November. The concert itself was great but the management was poor. I went with a friend and our tickets were for SEATS except when we got there it was jam packed and all tje seats were already taken and there was barely even standing room at the back. There was no system in place to enforce matching seats to tickets holders which sucked because I had to stand the entire 4 hours with a knee injury. I loved the music of course but felt like I couldn't enjoy it fully because pf the pain I was in standing for so long so I decided to sit on the floor among standing tall people when I just couldn't keep standing anymore. WnI would love to return to this venue if they improve their ticketing and enforcement system.
Opera House ReviewnWe went to the Opera House for the Two-Lane concert, and it was an amazing experience. The sound quality was excellent, and although the venue is small, it felt very comfortable and intimate. We had standing spots in the mezzanine, which offered great visibility. I also appreciated how easily accessible the bar was on the second floor. The canned whiskey sour was a perfect choice—smooth, well-mixed, and easy to enjoy during the show.
The Opera House is still one of Toronto’s most iconic venues - even with Live Nation now running the show, it hasn’t lost its old-school charm.nnLines usually move quickly, even on sold-out nights. If you don’t mind a partially obstructed view, standing behind the sound booth or on the raised steps gives you some breathing room - plus you’ll be near the air conditioning vents, which makes a big difference when the crowd heats up.nnSecurity is friendly and low-key, drinks are standard venue pricing, and the sound is always solid. As a photographer/videographer, this is a great place to shoot - lighting is consistently on point, and the vibe of the space lends itself well to live visuals.nnParking is manageable if you arrive 30–60 minutes before showtime, but can get tricky closer to the event due to nearby restaurants and TTC traffic.nnIf there’s one thing that needs a revisit, it’s the bathrooms. They’re located downstairs, and the narrow staircase leading to them is only really wide enough for one person at a time going up or down - definitely something that could use an upgrade for safety and comfort.nnThat aside, The Opera House still delivers where it counts - sound, lighting, and atmosphere. A reliable spot for live music and one of the few classic Toronto venues still standing strong.
I came here on February 20th to see Hulvey and it was great. I was watching the concert from mezzanine standing area and it was a great view + not that many people were on the mezzanine standing area. The sound was good and the lights were great also and I also liked how the disco ball was used too. Overall, it was a great concert and a great venue.
Great small venue! Entering was a breeze, there was a coat check but I didn't use it. Balcony and main floor were all general admission. Drinks were much better priced than larger venues. The Bathroom concierge was unexpected. I went for Dear Rouge and they sounded great.
