My first time here and probably my last. They weren't that busy, only a few tables but so many mistakes. It took a few minutes for our server to take our order, drink, appetizers and main meal which came with soup. Warm bread was delivered and then finally our wine. Appetizers came and then finally our meal but, we never did get our soup. When we got our check, we asked for the soup that was never delivered and dessert to go. Got our dessert but the soup never came. I got home ready to enjoy my dessert and noticed mold on top. Sigh. Our meal was delicious, but not sure it made up for everything else that went wrong.
Excellent reuse of a historic mill building in Mazomanie. Inside and outside dining venues. Rock/Rocky, our server, was friendly and funny. The food was delicious at a reasonable price. Also featured a sizeable bar area and a gift shop with lots of trinkets. We think that there is a very large party venue on the second floor, but didn't confirm that. Parking: Lots of parking along the side of the property.
The restaurants is in a very old building, absolutely beautiful . Virginia are waitress was excellent and the food was delicious. If your in the area definitely stop in.
This was a destination dinner for us, about an hour from our house. I'd been here about 20 years ago and knew it was a great, unique venue. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre. My wife ordered the special which was scallops and shrimp in a garlic sauce with rice. What she got was grilled shrimp and scallops on a skewer with rice, but no garlic sauce. I got the chicken pot pie. My first few bites were actually cold. This is strange since chicken pot pie ordered anywhere is normally very hot. We also got charged for an extra glass of wine, which we noticed and had corrected. The staff and venue are very nice, but the food disappointed.
Warm, friendly atmosphere. Waitress was amazing, described everything wonderfully, checking to see how everything was several times, if we needed anything else. Even helped with the wine list, able to sample a couple before choosing a glass. A lot of choices and everything from scratch. The prices are on the higher side, but so worth it!!
We get hear every couple years. The rustic building is a Wonderful place for a bar nd family restaurant. The only thing is the it seems that we get a great meal and bad service or great service and bad meal. This time is was the latter. Service was great. The had made quilts that space out the tables due to covid were a very nice touch and our waitress was patient and friendly. We had the home town favorite meatloaf with garlic masters. The meat and saw were so salty it could have been used to being in deer from cross plains. Not good at all. The mushroom strudel had many fungi flavors but not taste. Also it was hot on the outside and cold in the middle. Bummer. The appatizer lemon brushette was very good. Tart, created and crunchy. it is to bad the inconsistency, but I am sure we will go back to this great place.
Fabulous Easter Sunday Brunch! From Mushroom Streusel wraps to pecan French toast, to die for bread pudding . Everything was prepared homemade and presentation was superb! Staff were all fantastic providing service for our table of 12! We highly recommend The Old Feed Mill in Mazo! Looking forward to returning. Dan and Nicole Bohl
Great stop for dinner after catching a plat at American Players Theatre. Started with fresh baked bread, tasty. Followed by wild greens salad. Had the pot roast, which was fork-tender and delicious. Apparently, the stuffed pepper was good, too. The decor was cool, building kept up and interesting, and staff was quick and accommodating. Excellent choice. Get reservations for eating after six, especially after a play.
Historic Wisconsin Gem! I absolutely mean it! This was a stumbled upon place, as I was passing through on my way home from camping. It was 2pm on a Sunday, and most places to eat in the area closed at 2; Old Feed Mill had brunch until 2:30! I couldn't be more pleased with this stop! As I pulled into the parking lot, the visual appearance of a brick building and the nostalgia of a building with history were exciting. The railroad line close by and the growth of vegetation on the outside of the establishment gave charm and character to this restaurant; when we entered, I saw a nice bar area with an area to the right and left. I could also see a loft above, and old wood beams that let higher into the building. The sun came through the upper windows and really lit the upstairs. The whole inside of he business front was lined with beautiful flower bouquets. There was also a cute shop to the left down the hall. All of the cabinetry was wooden with hand shaped glass, and the hallway had information regarding the history of the building. There were also old machines on display. These type of items are certainly museum quality, with the display to accompany. There were also handcrafted quilts hung and draped around the inside furnishing, which accented the wooden beams and plaster of the beautiful interior. To the right was an entry into a room that opened up into a banquet area with very nice wooden tables. Everyone of the staff was very prompt and happy to be serving us. There was plenty of room to eat without being right next to anyone; and there was plenty of room to move around tables. The vaulted ceiling made for a private table conversation. There was also an old couple that are regulars who said they come a few times a week; I do not doubt that, since my experience was wonderful. Sunday's are brunch, which is an all you can eat style buffet! NOT LIKE A BUFFET HOUSE, NOT EVEN CLOSE to cramped, overpopulated or old food stigmas. They have regular dining hours, but do a special buffet for Sunday's; I can't attest to the regular menu style dining, but THE FOOD WAS ALL WONDERFUL!!!! The napkins were cloth and fit the theme, and the tables had nice silverware as well! I had no problem with the selection or service! My cup was always full, and there was a help yourself buffet with a few types of juice. I ate French toast, salad, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, breakfast potatoes, sliced deli style bread, eggs, and mixed steamed vegetables. Yes, I got my fill! Every bit of it was wonderful! I had nothing left, and there wasn't anything I tried that I set aside! I also had some pomegranate juice from a carafe, which was delicious as well! My girlfriend had chocolate milk, and a lot of the same food as me. She also had bacon, but also had the option of sausage, fish, chicken and some other meat mixed dishes in the area. Every plate looked fresh and was free of mess or dirty appearing dishes. No awkward looking foods or empty trays. As I was finishing my meal and exiting the building, one of the ladies spoke to me about the building history. She allowed me to check out the upstairs banquet hall, which was being prepared for an event the same evening. As I went up the stairs, I saw the craftsmanship of the building throughout the levels. The upper room was being set with table clothes and nice silverware! The upper level ceiling was also vaulted, and had a couple of ceiling fans with inconspicuous air vents designed into the theme of the building. I could see another room down the hall, lit up by the big windows, but I made my way back downstairs to head home. I didn't buy anything from the shop, but they are charming items such as crafty signs, quilts and candles. The restroom had No gross smells or messes laying around. I was pleased with all of that as well. I stepped out onto a covered deck, old style with wagon wheel decoration and the same charm as the rest of the building. I also saw a cool old car in the parking lot. I would HIGHLY recommend this place, even for the nostalgia alone! I already recommended it to my mother!
My wife and I stopped here after a weekend long canoe trip on the lower Wisconsin river. What a great place to eat at, the food was great and the building was really cool too! If your looking for a family owned, role up your sleeves and put your heart and soul into type of supper club. This is it!
