you can go anywhere else and i guarantee its better. booked a falls view room and got placed on the second floor with a parking lot view. whatever. no do not disturb sign, the staff is rude when asking simple questions. i asked about towels and one guy was great got it taken care of, i asked another women about house keeping stuff and she told me i had to contact the front desk. not once was that mentioned to us until the day before we left. parking prices are ridiculous50 a night you can go across the street and get it 10 dollars cheaper per night. cool they gave out vouchers but don’t come here if you’re expecting something nice.
So the rooms and location was really good without a doubt and the check in staff. These were the only good things about this hotel. 1 elevator wasn’t functioning completely. It took us 5-15 mins every time we had to go up or down. They don’t even provide you water that’s just basic.nNowhere it was mentioned about the parking charges. Felt cheated as soon as I was told that I have to pay for $60 parking. Whenever I requested something I was told this is all we have right now. The staff won’t even leave their seats to check if they can refill things on coffee stations. Honestly I will never recommend this hotel to anyone.
2 stars is basically for the view and that’s the only best thing about the hotel if you get the Fallsview room and the location of the hotel.nnWe reached by 4:20PM Dec29th and the check in line was so crazy. Around 15-20 families in line and the service was super slow, we got to our room at 5:30, 1 hour+ wait for checking in is insane, not sure why they need to spend so much time when most people book online.nnRoom was great no side tables only one nightstand in the middle of the beds 2 basic chairs in the room no sofa, mattress was hard and pillow were the worst, the cushioning in the pillows was non existent they should def invest in new pillows duvet was full of stains from one side. Overall this hotel is at great location but rooms are very dated. Oh and lift takes forever too.nnIt’s walking distance to casino and restaurants, we took a walk from casino to the falls and came back from the escalating lift back to the hotel.
Booked a king room came and they said there was issues with my room so I got put into a room with 2 queen beds.nThey said they needed photo I'd it does not say on my reservation it is required.nThen gave us the wrong amount to pay cashnThe hotel is NOT ACCESSIBLE AT ALL there is one parking spot which people checking in that don't have a wheelchair sticker use. The back of the hotel is not accessible so u have to walk to the front of the hotel on an icy parking lot. How nice.nPool, hot tub and sauna have three steps to go down into the roomnNot impressed no discount for being inconveniencenTerrible customer service from hotel staff and manager!!
We had a good experience with our first experience staying at The Oakes Hotel. People at the desk were very friendly and informative, parking was good and the view of the falls was superb.nThe room does need updating but it was very clean. A minor concern is that we were expecting a mini coffee maker in the room as the room photo on the website did show that. However, there wasn't one in the room; we had to go down to the main lobby to get coffee out of that machine.nGood location and good price. We would stay here again.
