We found this place just by discovering the city upon our arrival. It was quite late but the friendly staff still welcomed us in. The 4 of us had several dishes starters and mains at the same time to share. All of them delicious with surprising flavours. The wine was great as well as the Czeck gin and tonic. Everything was topped off with great service and whenever I go back to Prague you will find me there!
Excellent steak and a great wine card. You should also try the local gin which was very tasty. Service is super and the staff is so friendly. You can sit inside or outside and you should probably reserve beforehand as it is very busy.
Lovely restaurant! Very quiet and comfortable! The food is fantastic and very high quality! Big choice of wines and fresh steak. We spent a lovely time! Thank you!
Well it isn't the excellent cheese and ham / wine bar it used to be that is for sure. This is a proper steakhouse with a serious and I mean serious wine list and prices to match although there were more than a few good finds. The dry aged ribeye was exceptional as was the wine. Service top notch. Highly recommended
I had a late lunch. After some bad Czech cuisine experience i gave a chance again. Sadly it was tasteless again. The tatar was unsalty, i felt only the cucumber taste. I had shrimps as a main course, it was without taste. The best was the gin mare tonic. The service was great, location was good but does not worth for this price.
The food we got was very good, but we ordered three things off the menu that they later found out they didn't have, so we had to change it. The waiters were hard to get in contact with, and they also forgot to bring two things we ordered the wine and a sauce. Also, even though the food was absolutely great, it was rather pricey for what you got, and most of the beef is shipped in from America and not local. Even though the food was good, I'd not visit again because of the prices and service, and because I'm not traveling to Prague to eat American beef.
The food was exquisit. Very good meat and entries. Also the sauces were superb. A negative point to mention: I asked for a glass of Wine that I saw on the big board on the left side of the main entrance. It was an Argentinean Malbec for around 11€. The waitress told me they did not have it anymore but she could bring me a similar one. From this, I understood a similar price and kind. After finishing eating, we noticed the price of the glass was approximately 34€, for the full bottle costs around 500€. Since I ordered it, I decided no to complain to the waiter when he gave me the check. Nevertheless, I think it would be fair and especially transparent to inform the customers about such situations before bringing the products. Its feels pretty negative, not for the price itself but for you feel tricked after having enjoyed a great meal and evening. I edit it here because I cannot find an option to comment on a response: I was at the restaurant during New Year's Eve
Came to Monarch on my final night in Prague, Monday night so expected to be quiet, was a total of 3 people in there for the Duration, staff were lovely and were very friendly! Unfortunately the food let me down this time, the steak I asked for medium rare, came out as close to blue and you could get, and wasn’t very nice, the onion rings didn’t really taste or anything and the potatoes were okay… it’s a shame because the extensive wine list was impressive, and the style of the place was great, I don’t know if I caught them on a bad day being it a Monday at 8:30 pm but yeah unfortunately the food was disappointing! The wine I had was great. Got the impression the chefs just wanted to get finished and go home, however the two girls on front of house were great and were the saving grace.
The service and the atmosphere were very good and classy. A little bit pricey and the steak was a little bit too fatty considering the price. But still a great placeFood: 4/5
We have been traveling around Europe and have been eating out everyday. This probably was the worst dining experience we have had. Last night we arrived around 9:15 and were told the kitchen closes at 10. We said "okay we will make it". The whole time we tried to rush because we understand people wanted to go home. We each ordered a 3 course meal and my husband even volunteered to skip his dessert which was fine. But the whole time we felt we received unfriendly service. Our waittress was straight faceat the best the whole time and every request we made felt like inconveniented her. Mind you we were not the only guests at the restaurant. There were 3 or 4 other groups and 1 group came after us. We still left a 15% tip and then we saw our waittress smiled for the first time. We left the restaurant around 10:15ish and there were still people there finishing up their drinks. Then we were thinking about the whole dining experience. I felt we spent about $90 per person maybe we should deserve a little better service?
