DREAM is a community-based organization of volunteers whose mission is to build the community's capacity to empower youth to reach their academic potential, discover their passions and as a result touch people’s lives in a positive way.
Expanding a student's circles of awareness, dream's curriculum focuses on: Self-Awareness (year one); Community Awareness (year two); Social Awareness (year three); and, Post-Secondary Readiness (year four).
This is done through a four-year mentorship program from grade 9 to graduation, along with civic engagement through DREAM's working groups:
1. Global Literacy Program including the Ek Balam, Mexico Field School, and DREAM Raising Awareness Film & Speaker series.
2. MindShift Environmental Program,
3. Caring Community Group including the DSS Breakfast Program
4. Social Entrepreneurship Program based on people & the planet before profits and including a Social Media Development Program.
In November of 2013, DREAM moved into its own community centre building, The Minga (which means "the coming together for the common good").
