Sadly I have to downgrade my review of The Mexican House. Most notably is the fact that their online menu prices are not in line with what they are charging at the counter. I do not blame them for needing to increase their prices during these difficult time but the prices should match what we see online. Lastly, I was quite disappointed with the quality of the Enchiladas. I'm no expert but I believe that they were reheated in the microwave. The bottoms were hard and could not be cut with a fork. I've found this texture only on reheated microwaved foods. They are delicious though. The penalty for incorrectly priced items and reheated food is 2stars. I will return and will update my review at that time.
Very authentic tacos! Probably one of the best we've ever had. If you've never had beef tongue, this the place to try it! If you have had tongue before, this is the best place you'll ever have it. Lamb was ok. Also had the enchiladas Verde, very authentic flavour. Cant wait to try other menu items! Congrats - so happy you're in Orillia!
It is really nice to have Authentic Mexican for a change ! Makes me really appreciate it after all the years of Mexican fast food. This is so good it will remind you of your favorite traditional meal that your family makes on Holidays ! It's that Authentic ! The spices in my entire dish do so well together it will leave you thinking ... What the heck did we do to deserve the tiny dog that had that seductive voice that tries to lure you into eating their Grade A food. What did we do to deserve only that ? Well ok look now I know that all of Canada hasn't been this excluded to eating authentic Mexican food but man am I ever glad Orillia's got one now and I Highly , HIGHLY recommend it ! They have a little shopping isle for Mexican food goodies ! I got two things from isle to taste what Mexico loves to Munch on when they have the Munchies heh heh Also we know it's not good table etiquette but we were playing with our food to show you even how Happy our food was to be eaten and enjoyed : PS The Beef is to die for and both my Husband and I favoured the beef so we recommend trying the Plato Tipico Beef Dinner ! The little containers of salsa dip were so god tasting we wish they were bigger. They didn't quite fit the Columbia Empanada after the first bite lol It was really good with those. So after you dumb someon just one of those the container is done : But who's kidding.. the Empanadas are good on their own ! ~*Treats / Extras, Traditional Mexican Isle*~ 1. Pulparindo Extra Hot and Salted Tamarind Pulp Candy It is Hot and very Salty. Maybe not for everyone but where else are you going to find this though ? Give it a try anyway ! I went in to The Mexican House yesterday for lunch, and I was completely blown away!! I got chorizo tacos, that were made exactly like you would find in a good Mexican restaurant, amazing! what has surprised me even more, was that I got a side order of fries, and they were easily the best fries I've ever had in my life!

Great little place! The staff was very friendly and asked us how our meal was. It is more of a take out establishment. We were able to sit down, but there is bar style seating in front of the window and one table. But the portions were big for the price! They also have a small section where they sell products imported from Mexico, as well as frozen foods you can take home. I would recommend this place and would love to go back to try some different items on the menu!
My friend who lives in Orillia brought me some food from this location and it was absolutely amazing! I have been to Mexico and L.A and the food is as good if not better! I'd give it 10 stars if I could! I would not miss this experience if you are in Orillia! As well I have been to the location in Barrie and the food and people are amazing!! Best Mexican food I've ever had from these two locations!!!
Great food, hard to place a phone order though. Need to work on phone ordering skills! It would help if the menue gave a little more description and maybe links to pictures of food. Mexican food is great, but we're not in Mexico and many of us have no idea what some of these items are. That said however, once you get your food, it's delicious
Excellent Mexican food. Small place with limited seating .I had the beef and chorizo tacos and they were great. Two corn tortillas filled with meat, cilantro on top, sauteed onions on the side, and a lime wedge. Add a bit of green salsa....yum! Refreshing to have an authentic mexican takeout. So many chain burrito places now.
