The Merrill Hotel & Conference Center

My husband and I stumbled upon this hotel in 2021 when we were looking for a wedding venue and I can honestly say that this hotel is such a hidden gem! It has a beautiful modern feel to it and we quickly fell in love with the venue! Working with Dana and Gretchen to make our dream wedding come true was an absolute pleasure. They were always quick to respond to any questions I had and were very accommodating when it came to some of the ideas and details I wanted to incorporate into our day. One of my biggest fears when it comes to wedding food was that it wasn't going to be warm enough when served but they Chef and staff did an amazing job getting the food out quickly! All of the guests were RAVING about how delicious the food was and it truly was! . The ballroom overlooking the river is gorgeous and is big enough to hold a good amount of people. We also had our ceremony in one of the side conference rooms and guests loved that everything was all in the same location, but separate rooms so they could enjoy cocktail hour without having to worry about getting the space set for the reception. I cannot recommend this spot enough to other brides looking for a venue and is really pretty affordable for what you get and the experience the Merrill provides. My ONLY complaint was that they do not have a traditional "bridal suite" but we were able to use one of the smaller conference rooms to get ready in and it worked out just fine.

Stayed here following a wedding weekend with my mom and nephew. All the staff were polite and helpful, the room was comfy and well appointed, and loved the heated pool to hang with my nephew in the morning. I thought it was great. Very much recommend! Will stay here again.Rooms: 5/5

This destination deserves a 6/5. Family hosted our wedding at this location. Simply put, like a pearl found on rare occasion. This is the pearl of this location. The staff was very professional and courteous. They handled every request with ease. The upmost professionaliam that I have ever experienced at every level. To finish this review off we wanted to shout out the master chef. The cooking for the wedding and dishes displayed you cannot beat!

We went for breakfast today and it was excellent! We had the CB hash and the potatoes were so crispy and we had the pancakes, my husband said it was the best pancake he’s ever had. We will be back and can’t wait to try their dinner!

Attended a wedding reception here, have never been more offended by service staff in my life. The management didn't seem to be managing very much, unless it involved squeezing extra profits from party goers, and several the members of the service staff that I interacted with seem to lack the ability to interact with other people like decent human beings. They just seem to have a complete lack of respect for other people compounded with a blatant disdain for guests. The experience left me very angry and disappointed. If their goal was to have people that were attending the reception not interact with staff anymore than was absolutely necessary they certainly provided impetus. Edit: Mr Lee Belfield, I didn't conduct an investigation of the night, I attended as a guest. One of your bartenders was the primary cause of my negative review. She was rude, and I am the firsthand witness to her behavior. I don't feel that I need to justify that I had a bad experience, and you pointing to other reviews doesn't change my experience.

The Merrill is a gem in Muscatine and eastern Iowa. I love the beautiful lobby, the friendliest staff and great location and views of the river. The rooms are spacious, THEE most comfortable beds and CLEAN!!! I travel to 20 states for my job, and I always love coming back to this hotel best!! IOWA PROUD. Rooms: CLEAN!!! Spacious, did I say clean?!! Quiet, snacks for purchase, THEE, most comfortable beds. You hate to get up in the morning. Great views of the river. Walkability: Easily walk to several restaurants and bars. Right on the river, with access to walking/biking trail. Food & drinks: Food and drink options at the hotel are great. Noteworthy details: The lobby is beautiful, and i love the outdoor patio with nice fire features for a cozy, warm setting to just relax with a glass of wine and great conversation.

We had to cancel our reservation due to illness and the staff was so helpful and responsive. I’m sure if we stayed there, it would have been great. We really appreciated their professionalism and kindness!!Service: 5/5

Company Banquet 2023 was great. Food was delicious, Entertainment was on-point. The setting and decorations were Beautiful. Staff was extremely professional. Thank you for a memorable evening.Rooms: 5/5

Cody at the front desk was great. the room and river view was nice, as was the pool. The only downside was the minibar area was not cleaned from the last guests. We had to call to the front desk and let them know there were open food and beverage containers.
