I asked for waxing and the threading specialist intentionally ignored my request and tried to use threading instead (this is the second time). Threading is more painful for me which is why I requested a quick wax. Both times I have come here for wax the employee seats me and then starts using her threads on me. She has made me very uncomfortable, having to stop her and insist that she use wax. While waxing me, she lectured me on why threading is better. In the end she claimed there were hairs the wax did not get and could she get them with her threads? I reluctantly allowed her to. In the end, I had a red face and three pimples on my skin the next day that are still visible (I get waxed at the European Wax Center and Salon J without any visible skin irritation). When this salon was called Jobella this same employee had to take over briefly during my pedicure when my technician was helping another customer and she said negative comments about my feet, asked how often I get pedicures and stated that I needed to clean them. Why even two stars? They give a student discount. Additionally, I called two days in advance to book a massage (for my birthday) and they never picked up the phone, and no one called me back when I left a message. Recently I called for an appointment for gel nails, when they finally called me back they said their one employee who can do gel was not in and that they would call me back when they knew her schedule. A couple of days later... I have stopped waiting on that return phone call.

Three and a half stars, if there were halves - I had an extraction only facial done, which I have mixed feelings about. The aesthetician was very sweet, and gentle - the facial massages, exfoliation, mask, etc, felt great - and she seemed knowledgable, however, I'm a bit frustrated as the main reason I came in (extraction) was not well done - when I came home after my facial there were still quite a few whiteheads and clogged pores, particularly in the problem areas which I had asked her to address. It seems she wasn't quite aggressive or perhaps detail oriented enough. Furthermore, I ended up paying more than had been quoted to me - If I were to return it would likely be for a mini-facial only, as my skin does feel very clean, refreshed and even, but I will definitely go elsewhere to treat blackhead, whitehead and blemish extraction / removals.

I have been to the salon a few times for a threading of my facial hair. I found it to be really clean and the staff helpful. The lady that does the threading is professional and makes suggestions but lets you decide if you want your eyebrows just cleaned up or shaped a bit more. The price is also reasonable. You can validate your parking and get it for free in the garage under the salon: it is connected to the Omni Hotel which is helpful. Also their ladies room is very spacious and clean, something else I find highly important.

Issues from my first steps in should have been a WARNING to find an alternate salon. Accosted by a loud man as I entered who not only demeaned the staff at the front (of which there were MANY who seemed disinterested in helping a new customer) and then who went on to rant and rave about his political option. Very unprofessional and sorely out of place. There is a "spa" in the back of what appears to be a large hair salon. I noticed how large the space is because of the lack of clients anywhere to be found. Again, that should have made me stop and question. The room I was placed in was not clean (i.e. HAIR on the paper which is on the bed/table, TRASH on the floor, AND in the bathroom there was no toilet paper and had ONE paper towel left on the roll.) my sandel stuck to the floor as entered. Knowing that I was only there for my legs to be waxed and I was only in town for two nights, I managed to stick it out. I wish I could say that my walk out/check out was swift and uneventful. Again more complete and utter nonsense from employees yelling at each other in the middle of the place... at least now there were two clients to witness this... unfortunately. More confusion at the front during checkout as THREE people said, "I don't have access to the computers..." and walked away. Seriously, they walked away and never came back!! It was almost as if I was begging this terrible excuse for a business to take my money. Never again. Never recommending. Needs new ownership or new staff who doesnt yell while customers are present. Needs to be cleaned.

This review is not about the services but rather the management and organization of The Mane Room. There was a transition period a year or more ago from Jobella to The Mane Room. It was a pretty bumpy transition but it is hard to know what was transition and what was the usual disorganization therefore this review is about Mane Room. Although all web sites online note the hours of operation, I called maybe around 5 p.m. a few days ago when the closing time was 8 p.m. (even in Google listing) to hear a very poor sounding voice message saying they would call back, and to leave name, number and time of appointment. I left message. Several hours later not having heard back I called and left another message. The following morning a call back from Barbara. When I asked why no one called me back the day/night before I was told they closed at 5 p.m. It would be helpful and certainly a no-brainer for management to have their hours included in their outgoing message. On Caller ID the name of the business was NOT The Mane Room but JoBella Salon. After a year as Mane Room why hasn't someone picked up on this? I had a gift certificate. There were endless problems to find it each time I called to set up an appointment. They had me in two different places, etc. etc. At times they had to call me back because they had trouble finding the data. The folks providing services seem to be a great group but management, not so. I would say being open on Sunday is one positive for the salon.
