I have always loved coming to this store. Everyone is always so lovely and of course the yarn is fabulous! I will miss this lovely store and just wanted you to know that I have always appreciated my visits and interactions here. Thank you for providing us with such a great place to come! Wishing you all the very best on your new adventures :
I was visiting from Ontario and always like to check out local little yarn stores when I am away. Great variety of yarn and nicely displayed. Unfortunately the salesperson or owner was not helpful or friendly in any way. No inquiry into what I was looking for nor offers of help even though I was the only one in the store. She wasn't rude just not interested. First impressions are important and I don’t think I will go back.
Been previously and staff was very helpful, went back and an older white-haired lady was working. I had come to try to buy some matching yarn and safety eyes, and as i went to speak with her, her personal cell went off, and she answered. She then sat down on a nearby couch to talk, ignoring me completely... I had driven quite a ways to visit the store, and wasn't sure if i should just leave. I understand, it sounded like she had a surgery coming up and was talking about it to family, but there was no one else working there who could help me. After several minutes standing there awkwardly, she seemed to realize i wasn't going away, and told me they had no safety eyes which i had purchased there before and could not help with yarn recommendations. I left very disappointed. Complete 180 from my last visit. Unfortunately, i can't justify visiting again when i get the same level of service from Amazon- this breaks my heart, because i love small craft stores, and will be sad to see them go away
Very lovely local yarn store. Great selection, friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere. All types of yarn, with options for different budget levels. Also have all the crafting tools you need to make amazing things from the yarny smooshness available.
The selection at The Loop is easy to browse, and extensive considering their small space. The pricing on their yarn varies, so I feel like a wide range of budgets could shop here and go home with yarn that is both budget-friendly, and great quality. I also appreciate the dedicated areas of the store that show yarn that is made & dyed locally. I really enjoyed the staff I dealt with Ben, I believe his name was, when I phoned, and twice when I went into the store. I’ve been to several of the independently owned, small yarn stores in Calgary, and I am happy to say that The Loop has become my new favourite location to purchase my yarn at.
I love going to The Loop for my yarns. The staffs are just so wonderful at helping me find the perfect yarns for my project. The yarns are displayed beautifully and very browse-friendly. I can't wait for covid to end so that I can begin taking knitting classes there.
I love this store. It is full of yarnie goodness. The staff are so friendly and helpful. It really has that "your friendly neighbourhood yarn corner store" vibe. This is where all yarn would want to go if it had a choice...
Staff welcoming and helpful... I've taken my knitting problems to the store and been put back on track. A nice selection of yarn and yarn colours. The classes they host are very reasonably priced and the instructors I've had have been friendly, well organized and good and supporting learners of all levels. It's easy to get to and there's always some place to park!
One of the best yarn stores in the world!!!! I love to visit yarn stores in every city I travel to and have visited dozens on 3 continents. Thanks to other positive reviews, I picked The Loop Kensington in Calgary and had one of the best days at a yarn store. The store has a wide variety of yarns that are smartly arranged by weight!! So much easier when you're looking for a yarn for a project to go to that weight and be able to see all your options! The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful without being pushy! The pricing was reasonable as well. The shop has 2 seating areas and I was warmly welcomed to spent a few hours knitting while talking with "regulars" and staff alike who dropped in to knit and visit. They included this American visitor as if I'd been there my whole life! It's a gem of a spot and I hope to make it back again someday. For those of you who are lucky enough to live here, this should be your LYS!
Far and away my favourite yarn store that I've ever been to. Some specialty shops can have people running them who are more interested in the specialty than in the shop, and can be very unwelcoming to new customers. The Loop is not one of those shops. Always warm, knowledgeable, and ready to offer advice or help, the people, as much as the products which are likewise always exceptional, are why this yarn store remains, even after a series of moves which have meant it's farther away from home than ever for me, my favourite and first stop for yarn, needles, hooks, or even just some friendly advice.
