We visited the lodge for a wedding and were in awe of the natural beauty. The lodge has an intimate rustic vibe that was great for the small wedding we attended. The amenities were clean and up-to-date. The real draw of this venue is the staff and service. Everyone was friendly and helpful, but they really went above and beyond to make us comfortable; giving us duct tape for an air mattress, providing a quiet place to breastfeed, and being available to help throughout the wedding reception and ceremony. We will be back. Thank you Panther.
What a beautiful place to relax and enjoy time with friends and family! The area was gorgeous, accommodations comfortable. The bathrooms provided for the tenters were private and comfortable complete with showers. But what made our stay so wonderful was actually the staff. What a fantastic group they have! We felt so at home the moment we got there, and they were accommodating in every way. The food was wonderful and those ladies in the lodge were just an absolute delight. I can’t wait to bring my family back here!
The lodge at panther river was an awesome place to stay for fishing, hiking and exploring the back country. The cabins are very nice and include breakfast. Can also add lunch or dinner which are both very good. The owner and staff are very nice and accommodating. I will be back forsure!
It is remote so very quiet. No music or other loud noises allowed. My kind of camping. We were there on a weekend so even though there were other large RVs there, we felt like we had the place to ourselves. There are 2 large single shared bathrooms with free showers. Checkout is at 10 am, a but too early for us. Nothing allowed to be tied to trees, so no hammock for us. Camped next to the shallow river, so beautiful! Lots of big horn sheep walking though the campsite. They'd walk through the campsite, cross the river them climbed the steep hill across from us. They'd gather at the salt lick across the river. Horseback riding there or at outfitter next door. There are also glamping tents. They also have nice cabins with private washrooms. Because it is so remote, there is no cell service, but main lodge has WIFI.
Booked about ten of us into three cabins this past weekend -- Cedar, Aspen, and Aster. The staff, particularly Sarah and Ambria, were incredibly helpful and accommodating in arranging the cabins and directing us to hikes in the area. The property is off the beaten path about an hour west of Sundre and the cabins we stayed in face a gorgeous mountain vista with a picturesque river to boot. If you're into hiking, I'd recommend James Lake -- the trail head is about thirty minutes from the cabins and the entire hike to the waterfall and back took about four hours. Saturday evening, we ended up using the on-site BBQs and hanging out in the gazebo, which is outfitted with a giant wood-burning stove. Between the cabins and the staff and the weather and the facilities, we couldn't have asked for a better weekend. I will definitely be coming out again!
I got a rash all over my body from sleeping on top of the blankets/bed sheets because it was hot with the windows closed to try block out the noise of the people partying next to our cabin until 4 in the morning and using the toilets which were also attached to our cabin. I reluctantly write this review as the staff are nice and the set up isn't bad but it was definitely not worth the price we paid for the experience we had in the end.
Perfect place to relax and recharge. Amazing trail rides and scenery with delicious home cooked meals, friendly and helpful staff, highly recommend and will be returning.Rooms: 5/5
We booked 6 cabins for a group Thanksgiving Weekend. The property is beautiful and the cabins were nice but a bit on the small size. The first night it was windy and cool, the group spent most of the time in the cook house area cause there was a fire ban. It was nice, but wish there were so kind of way to close it in to block the wind. Morning breakfast that was included with the rooms was amazing, with yogurt and fresh baked goods. The only small issue we had was the garbage, we understand with wild animals around it needs to be secured. But the need to take the garbage with you needs to be announced at the time of booked. We had a Thanksgiving dinner for 17 people and after a 3 hr drive, I will have to take the truck in for a detailing to remove the odours. The Star of the property is JESSICA!!! I do a lot of travelling, and have had outstanding service. But Jessica is a special lady that made this trip one to remember. To the owners of Panther River Lodge, you have someone that is giving her all to making your place the best please reward her for her outstanding job!
This was the second time we are camping at Panther river lodge. We drove almost 4 hours from Fort Saskatchewan. We had a stay for 2 nights and we build our tents there. Day 1 the power supply didn't work as it was tripping off very often. Day 2 as it was raining we never used the power supply as it did the same thing. Just to mention we wanted to put our heater on so we needed it only during the night time. We were not bothered to you it during day time. We were charged for the power supply that we used. This came to our attention late coz 1 of my other friend had already paid everything and we left. The staff to be specific a gentlemenAlso takes care of the horses who works there we found him extremely rude to us. Me and all my friends are from hospitality background so we know how to treat the customers and what attitude to carry. In short he was commanding us which we mentioned to him that he can be a little polite but nope that's what he is I guess. Well just a small suggestion to you guys keep a better staff who are not rude to others and can be welcoming. We are definitely not coming back to this place again just because of this man and also not recommending it anyone. Thanks for your lovely stay!!!
What a gem! The view from our cabin window would almost make the entire getaway worth it alone. Our Cedar Suite was sweet indeed with its little fridge, coffee maker and bathroom. We arose each morning, popped over the lodge for the signature breakfast homemade muffins or biscuits, fruit, yogurt with granola, coffee, juice, water after our first coffee by the natural wood burning fire. Thanks to our hostess sharing local knowledge we found walks to Kline Lake and nearby Bighorn Falls were awesome - saw wild horses, elk and mountain sheep. Worth every penny.
