Came here on a whim from Edmonton, out for an adventure with the wife. Reviews were good, and it seemed pretty quirky, so we took the drive. The food was spectacular. We tried a bit of everything and our only regret was that we couldn't eat more. The deserts were amazing, we ordered them all just to make sure we got it all in. All of them were perfect. The venue is rough, but the food was so good that you don't even care. The cook/owner comes out to make sure you love what he's made for you he seems nuts, in a good way, the staff is quirky but good, and overall, it's an adventure worth driving to Westlock for.
Not exactly what you might call formal dining, but to me that's a plus. Very hospitable. Food was very good, waitress wonderful and the owner was down-home friendly. I was there to meet 2 pastors for lunch one showed, the other sent regrets but it was well worth the commute from St Albert.
We drove out from St. Albert and it was worth the drive! I was a bit apprehensive walking in due to the dated decor, but was immediately greeted and made welcome. We caught the Father's Day steak and lobster special, which was an outstanding value! I normally dunk lobster in butter, but it wasn't necessary as the first bite revealed beautiful seasoning on the tail that complimented a delicious steak. The side vegetables were fresh and deliciously prepared. The gravy was better than anything my mother ever served! The garlic mash potatoes soaked up the gravy and made me wish I had more potatoes! But the real kicker was the dessert! The wizard behind the scenes decided to deep fry cheesecake!!! Oh my God!!! We met Jason, the owner, and things began to make sense! He has a great sense of humour and lots of experience in restaurant business. No wonder my deep fried pickle appetizers were whimsical and savory! The sliders are not to be missed! I had the brisket and I couldn't believe how good the were! This was the most pleasant and surprising meals I have had in quite some time! Definitely worth stopping here if you are anywhere close to Westlock!
We came in from out of town to try based off of the reviews posted. First restaurant in over a year. I don’t know if it was an off day but our experience was not good. We waited over 45 mins and it was served cold. Waitress was friendly and apologetic but food was definitely not good and we couldn’t finish. $2 was taken off our bill for the inconvenience. :
Tried recently for the first time with my daughter. Food was really good, poutine was great! And the kids mac n cheese was a very big portion, and my daughter loved it! Will eat here again for sure!
This is my family’s favorite go to! The most amazing menu and awesome prices. I’m all about the deep-fried cheesecake and eggs benny Hollandaise from scratch! Support local and treat your tastebuds. Thanks Jason.
Fantastic food, the place is super clean and couldn't have asked for better service! And there's deep fried cheesecake- possibly the best thing I've ever put in my mouth!
The westlock hotel is a Hotel, with good food and spirits. The "old hotel" has been in Westlock for as long as many can remember. It has been cleaned up and the starts of some renovating can be seen. The food is quick, good portions and fairly reasonably priced. Karaoke on Friday is good fun for all.....
Terrible waitress. 5 dollars for a glass of water if you’re accompanying someone eating. Spent money there many times then try to be ridiculous like that? Keep your nasty tap water. Not going back ever.
Had the brisket sandwich. Coleslaw on top was unique and amazing. 100% recommend the deep fried cheesecake
