The Hideout is a free standing restaurant owned by The Wyndham hotel across the parking lot. Loads of parking here with accessible parking and entrances. There's a large dining footprint and an outside patio. Food is delicious and served quickly and hot. Our waitstaff immediately showed up to take our drinks orders and provide menus. The washrooms are clean and accessible, the entrance being just by the bar. There's a couple of raised areas as well for dining, and a nice long bar with lots of choices. You can sit at a table, a booth, the bar or higher tables as you prefer. There’s also a room at the end with its own entrance if you wanted to arrange a private function. The staff are all superb and very friendly as well. It being Stampede this week, everyone is in western garb and it’s just great to sit at your table with a pint and watch the Bull Riding live on TV. I cheer for the bulls as it’s one of the few sports where the bovine has as good a chance of winning as the rider! As for product, there’s a nice selection of beers on tap and bottles as well as hard liquor. There’s sufficient single malts to make for an enjoyable bit of dramming. The only downside is the restaurant is closed Sunday, Monday and closes at 10 pm. Tuesday through Saturday. A real plus is any guests staying at the Wyndham can order from the menu and have it delivered to their room.
I have to be honest, I feel like this place gets a bad rap and because of that people don’t come anymore l, which takes away from the atmosphere…. which is why I have just given it four stars. When I lived in Sundance? It was called the Darby arms and was my local. I had many a good night there and I did have high hopes when they tried to turn it into a more modern bar with a steakhouse component. They just happen to forget there was an established steakhouse across the road. And then we have that stupid Nenshi bridge. Let’s not get me started on that because it effectively destroyed that little bar. I digress…. You will get a decent pint of Guinness, great food [Francis is an amazing chef] and decent service. Plenty of seating room and half decent live music. It is definitely worth popping your head in even just to remind yourself what it looks like. I will be back, wild horses would not keep me away.
Great wings for Wing Wednesday. Love the smokey flavour to all the wings. Delicious! And they got Game of Thrones Pinball!Food: 5/5
The place was absolutely awesome with an amazing selection of foods including beef tacos for only $4 on taco Tuesday which were just amazing some of the best tacos I've ever eaten, but the service was pretty slow even though the place was close to empty. The musicians singing and playing the guitar were a new and awesome experience with songs in every genre. Overall you should look forward to going here as the food combined with the musicians is an experience to strive for.
Our family has come to the Hide Out many times, including booking the back room for our parents 60th Anniversary. The food and service has been just excellent, Amanda our host for most of our visits has been fantastic to deal with, Our family now books once a month and will continue as a tradition. Thanks Amanda , I would recommend the Hide Out as a great alternative.
It was okay. The fish and chips were really good. The waitress seemed annoyed and like she really hated her job. There were super drunk people screaming and yelling at each other at the bar and yet no one asked them to leave or cut them off. The bartender though totally handled them like a pro. He seemed like a really good employee.Food: 4/5
Do not go here! What my friends and I thought was going to be a wholesome and quiet experience, turned out to be the worst service we had ever experienced. It was Friday night and there wasn’t many people in the restaurant. Our server had 3 tables, 2 about half an hour into us arriving. She was obviously intoxicated, forgetful, and awkward. She wasn’t ringing in our drinks, making it take 20 minutes for a simple beer. The food that arrived wasn’t what we ordered, and a whole plate was forgotten. When the mistakes were recognized there was nothing done to make the night better by the staff at this establishment. I had never wanted to leave a place as badly as I did that night. If you’re in the area, I urge you to find somewhere else to go.
I normally don’t leave a review at restaurants but this was the worst service I have ever received excluding what I think was a manager with blonde hair who was amazing and SOMEWHAT salvaged our experience . It seemed like our server was intoxicated, we waited 20+ minutes for a beer, they were slurring their words, completely butchered my friends entree, messed up our bill twice so we paid to escape the nightmare. Keep in mind we are 1 of 3 tables in the restaurant at the time it was not busy. If you’re thinking about eating here, go across the street to Hudson’s for better food and a better tap. I would hide from this hideout
Came in St Patrick’s days, extremely busy! but staff was super welcoming and very accommodating, even for a national drinking holiday, staff were super friendly, even to joke about the craziness! Definitely recommend for those looking for a hidden gem bar and restaurant, great food! Great service!
I have had many good experiences at the Hideout. My family and friends have made a bit of a tradition out of staying at the Wingate in the same parking lot during holidays and heading over here to watch the bands they host play but be careful when you are there late as they seem to have a shady bartender and I would expect better character out of someone wearing an engineering ring but he likes to cut people off by first taking their money and then refusing to give them their drink because they are too drunk and then refuse to give them their money back. This is not something I experienced personally, but rather witnessed happen. I can see how he is getting away with this by accusing people they are too drunk and that they already got their drink they paid for.
